Code_Swarm for Haiku videoCode_Swarm for Haiku video

Today I received an email from Fredrik Holmqvist (TQH, of Bezilla fame) about a video that he recently created and posted on Vimeo. Titled "Code_Swarm for Haiku OS," this is a video generated using Code_Swarm, a technology that allow visualizing the activity on a software repository. The video that TQH created was generated from the Haiku subversion commit messages, and shows the period starting from the time Haiku moved to Subversion up until revision 26538. Check it out here; it's recommended that you watch the HD version in fullscreen. For those who don't have or want to use Flash, you should also be able to download the source video (1280x720) from Vimeo (account required).

Pretty neat Fredrik. Thanks for sharing this!

That is definitely slick :)

Saw mention of "code swarm" a while back, but it's hard to watch one and relate to it if you don't know the developers involved. Since all the names are familiar in the Haiku code_swarm video, it makes it quite enjoyable to watch, pause, and analyze visually :D

I'd like to get an original copy that plays with VLC for showing at LinuxWorld if possible. I guess I better sign up with Vimeo :)

Wow, this really looks awesome. Thanks for that, Fredrik!
How about some nice sound effects to make the Cylon attack on Axel more Hollywood? :)

Considering how hard it was to find a way to edit the video under Linux I rather not :) I think I tried everything in Ubuntu's repository. I had to boot windows and use the free Windows Movie Maker for the texts and upscale them using ffmpeg just to get all pieces together.

I experience the same thing. I recently switched to Ubuntu, but for all the tons of software I find, I still haven't found a working, easy to use app to author DVDs that does what I want. It always stops short of being useful...

Yes, it's the first time I wish I owned a MacBook for practical reasons.
