Haiku Promotional Flyer

Hello,

A few individuals have recently expressed their desire to help create a Haiku flyer that could be handed out at trade shows and conferences. I am creating this thread to support this initiative.

As a start point, here you can find a very simple flyer that we created for the last SCaLE 5x conference:

http://haiku-os.org/files/downloads/2007-02-10_haiku@scale-5x-flyer.pdf

Here is a Haiku color palette for reference (sorry, not CMYK equivalents yet):

Here are a few simple guidelines:

* Keep the design clean and simple
* Use design scalable to both Letter and A4 size
* Use official artwork (from the Haiku repository)
* Keep the content in line with our message (see About pages in the website)
* Target audience is developers only. Don't target users.
* Provide PDF to print on desktop color printer

Please, be prepared to receive both positive and negative feedback, and note that the work will be subject to review by the admin group.

*** File Format ***
We will try to have the local communities translate the flyer to their languages, so a standard native file format is preferred (perhaps EPS or ODT).

I think I am not leaving anything out, but if you notice that I have missed something or if you have any questions, please leave a comment here.

So, go ahead, start working on your mockups! :)

I put together a simple albeit to the point flyer for Haiku's participation in the Google Summer of Code. There are renderings available in PDF and PNG form here:

If anyone has any suggestions or would like some tweaks, let me know.

Cheers!
Sean

As clearly stated in the initial post, this thread is about creating a *general* promotional flyer to use at *trade shows and conferences*, NOT a flyer for the GSoC.

We already have a flyer to invite students to apply to our GSoC ideas, and it can be found here:

Please, use this one instead.

I directed him here from the IRC channel :(

Update: BTW, is this the first time a link to that flyer has been publicized?

No big deal. :)

Yes. I just sent an email to the Haiku list and the GSoC list (so that it is added to the GSoC wiki).

Base colors and Shadow for green and yellow have the same RGB values.
The yellow shadow should be 179, 148, 0
The green shadow should be 47, 122, 40

What are the different uses for highlight #1 and #2?

edit:
'palette' is also misspelled in the image.

here's the url for artwork:

Hi mmadia,

Thanks for pointing this out. I have fixed the palette and updated the download URL in the initial post of this thread.

The inclusion of two highlights is just meant to expand a bit the selection of colors (while at the same time maintaining consistency).
