Yes, i'm starting right away. Actually i'm writing my proposal for the

In any case, even if Ithamar had finished the port already, I guess

In particular, we agreed on a possible port of the FreeBSD 5.x net

This big module, in that scenario, will replace the current core,
protocols and some of the interfaces stack modules.
Yep, that's dropping modular design, mostly.
I would better say: we want to start with something that works and then
slowly adapt the code to our needs. The FreeBSD developers are
interested in our adaptions, too, so we could work together with them.

please continue your DHCP client. Even if any of the other projects has
its own implementation we want to replace each part with a clean
solution. Your work is not wasted and very much appreciated. Also, BSD
would not bring us a nice kernel-land implementation.

Waldemar

Philippe,
Where does this leave my DHCP implementation? I have also been pulled
away by work and personal, and have been slating a large block of
vacation around Christmas and New Year's time to finish the stand-alone
executable.
If the FreeBSD 5.x net stack was ported, would that include a DHCP
client? Would this marrow project include a DHCP client piggy-backing
in with the FreeBSD net stack?

Hey all,
I was wondering about building the source. I downloaded the latest from
sourceforge, compiled the jam tool to run on my linux distro, and tried to
use jam to build the remainder of the source. Unfortunately, many of the
files seem to be using particular OS type declarations ... so I believe
I'm out of luck on my linux box. I would love to know a couple of things:
1. What's the target for OS for doing builds.
2. How possible it might be to do builds and development on linux .. ;-)

Hello,
I think I have it mostly ironed out. I still have a couple of
questions, though:
You can use jam install-networking.
The net_stack_driver will not be installed anymore. Philippe, I
forgot why you did that.
Do I still need net_server_driver? If I dont copy the net_stack and

Hi Brennan,
As I stated earlier today, I've been away from OpenBeOS since June.
I am now going about setting up my test environment (again) for our
stack. I have a few questions:
1. Are these manual instructions still a valid way to install the
stack (w/o using jam install-networking)
You can use jam install-networking.

Scott,
I dont know at this point. I was studying the stack some months ago,
but didnt get too far. Im going to get my BeOS test box up and
running with our stack, and run some basic tests using the route,
ping, and other command that we already have. Philippe was looking
for a short report of my findings in doing this. I have access to
many different machines and tools, so I can set up packet traces
using Ethereal and the like...
