[haiku-development] Re: Who's working Haiku's on UI/UX? (fox noodles)

Thanks for the comprehensive Adrien, yes I'm aware that most of the time people are working for free on Haiku etc. so do I ATM, but as u might already know and from my personal experience it's always(I repeat always no exceptions unless you're a boss or a best friend) hard to convince a programmer to do something that most of the programmers don't even care about, unless it's a front-end developer who's into modern stuff anyway. That's why I asked if someone's responsible for UI on Haiku, cuz we won't get anywhere anytime soon if I'll have to argue with all programmer's out there about a window shadow which is not a ...

Ticket #7465 ([app_server] mouse wheel doesn't work for new windows until you move the ...) closed

Fixed in hrev49183 -- it was not a duplicate of #762, and actually never worked correctly.

app_server: Fixed some send fake mouse event issues.

Source Activity - Thu, 2015-05-21 22:25
* Activating a window never send a faked mouse message. This was noticeable when switching windows using the keyboard; if you then scrolled with the mouse wheel you could scroll in the previous window still. * Also, using MouseEventWindow() in _SendFakeMouseMoved() doesn't work when you click the window to send it to behind: it's moved on button press, but the mouse event window is only released on button release, ie. too late. * This is fixed by always using the current window under the mouse as target for the fake event. * Activating a window never send a faked mouse message. Hi Andrew, thanks for the reply. Yes I definitely agree(based on my BeOS vs Haiku exp) with you that it's mostly a reproduction of BeOS in terms of UI design and as well as the UX. I've been following the discussions for I while now, and my impression is that there's no actual UX designer involved with this project. I'm not quite sure how does it work here, but right now I'm working on the complete(well almost, I love the icons) overhaul of Haiku's UI and aside from being a very very hard ...

Hi Fox, Welcome to the Haiku project. I saw from your post on the forum that you have an interest in UI, excellent. I can't speak for everyone on this subject but my impression is that most effort into Haiku UI/UX has been to reproduce the BeOS GUI, look, feel, and intent. With the exception of tile and stacking, there has not been a really large ...

I would start with posting news items with a call for help on open source news websites (I'm thinking of the french linuxfr.org, but there may be other similar and more global websites. I could set up an advert on idealist (example: ) and ask readers to contact the public Haiku-inc email. This advertisement could then be shared around on the tech news websites. ...

Gurock Testrail is another commercial tool that is highly intuitive, has a python api client that could be connected to buildbot's release management system [9] and it already has great trac integration [10]. Its website states that open source projects should fill out a form or email them to find out how to get free licensing, however form is redirecting to their main page. Should I contact Gurock and see if the offer still stands ? Cheers, ...

We need a PHP developer to help us jump to Drupal 8 (or whatever PHP CMS we pick). Catchafire can get us free help with the strategic/preliminary work [1][2][3][4], but we will need someone to manage and implement the change over. I'm pretty proficient in PHP. I'm busy ATM, but I do have a copy of vmweb to play around with and try to get working with Drupal 8. So I can handle of [1-4] as well as the change itself.
