[haiku-development] Checking when media services are up [proposal] (Dario Casalinuovo)

Hello, i see in the source code a number of places using the roster to check if the media_server and media_addon_server are running. Actually this is done sometimes redefining the signature of the media_server where for the addon_server the signature isn't defined in MediaDefs. On other hand checking only for B_MEDIA_SERVER_SIGNATURE is not in any way indicative if the media services are really running correctly, as #5621 shows this bug is caused because the launch_media_server function is only checking if the media_server is running but not the addon server, so if the ...

Ingo, SHUT THE FUCK UP! It's a bug alright - in Haiku. How long have you been a maintainer? And you *still* haven't learnt the first rule of Haiku maintenance? If a change results in user programs breaking, it's a bug in Haiku. We never EVER blame the users. How hard can this be to understand? To make matters worse, the package manager is clearly total and utter CRAP even if it didn't break applications. ...
