[openbeosmediakit] Media Kit documentation ()

Tue, 2009-09-29 08:45
I received an en email by Jeff Biss, who is doing documentation for the OpenBeOS. But I see a few major problems in this. * Gobe format isn't very handy, and doesn't have working links * HTML would be much better for reference during deveopment * currently, we are not changing any functionality, so * there aren't any additions yet. * I don't know the exact meaning of markup, rise a price doesn't ...

Well, I don't know if you already tried replacing libmedia.so on your system, but here is a way how to do it. I would really appreciate if one of you could make a shell script to switch between the original and our replacement (and vice versa) first, if not already done, make a backup of ...

[openbeosmediakit] Three weeks ()

Tue, 2009-09-29 08:45
Strange topic? Not at all. We will have done our first milestone in three weeks or less. The first milestone is: basic sound playback capability, for multiple applications running at the same time. This means the implementation of the BSoundPlayer class, a mixer in the the media_server, which multiple applications can connect to and use it for playback. We also need a replacement ...

[openbeosmediakit] BSoundPlayer and other examples ()

Tue, 2009-09-29 08:45
What should we use to test our media kit development? Simple answer, we use the existing applications! CL Amp and SoundPlay should be able to work fine with our replacement. They only use basic MediaKit functionality. For example, CL Amp. When you start it and drop an mp3 file, you will see the following printed into the terminal: ...

Tue, 2009-09-29 08:45
Hey Marcus, That's really cool. For the past two weeks I have had=20 too many things to do at work, so I haven't been coding. Hopefully I can get a chance to get the demultiplexer node to do something useful soon. That is, I hope that I can get it to demux a basic multistream into one of the more primitive stream types: raw audio, raw video, encoded audio, or encoded video. I should ...

Tue, 2009-09-29 08:45
Hi, this list has been silent for some time. I made a lot of improvements during the last two weeks to our current codebase. Today, something really interesting started working, and Bruno wrote some news item for me and published it at On the screenshot, you can also see the mixer that was written by David Shipman. However, since BSoundPlayer hasn't been completed, there is no data to mix. ...
