Haiku Admin Meeting 2007-07-02:

  • Discussion about WalterCon planning. Things are moving along.
  • The existence of a project called RadiantOS which claims to eventaully be a "distro" based on Haiku was mentioned.
  • There was some discussion about the status of running GCC in Haiku:
  • Haiku might be close to self-hosting capability (able to build itself).
    It was mentioned that once Haiku can self-host it's probably time for an official alpha release.

Haiku Admin Meeting 2007-07-09:

  • There was some discussion about AGG and the recent buzz about it on OSNews and other places.
  • The Admin Team Gathering was discussed some more.

Haiku Admin Meeting 2007-06-18:

  • Discussion about some "missing" articles on the new website - specifically old newsletters. Also desired is a way to make them easier to locate.
  • Mention of the continual "browser for Haiku" topic that pops up in the mailing list and elsewhere. An official decision should be discussed and published. It may be still too early to fully decide on a direction.
  • More discussion took place about a potential physical "admin gathering" in the near future.

  • Darkwyrm has been working on the WalterCon 2007 details including some content. Some ideas were discussed.

Haiku Admin Meeting 2007-06-04:

  • There was some discussion about the status of several of the GSoC students/mentors now that GSoC has officially begun (May 28th).
  • A couple of minor notes about some website changes were mentioned.

Looks like June 4, 2007 was a short meeting :)

Haiku Admin Meeting 2007-05-28:

  • Discussion about new "Admin organizer" internal-use website for managing tasks, admin votes, etc.
  • Some discussion took place about possibly organizing a physical "admin gathering" somewhere.
  • Michael Lotz has volunteered, and is currently a primary candidate for "Project management" type tasks.
  • Mention of the need to assign/complete the Haiku, Inc. 2006 financial publication.
  • Discussed Haiku Compatible Badges:
  • It appears many are currently in favor of Stephan's designs.
    Mention of possible "Haiku powered" or "Haiku inside" on a badge.
    Should open-vote be used similar to the icon sets? Further discussion about decision will be moved to Admin mailing list.

Haiku Admin Meeting Summary - May 21, 2007

Haiku Admin Meeting 2007-05-21:

  • Admins discussed OpenBFS Team broadening - it has currently been renamed to File System Team and should probably include all file system-related aspects of Haiku.
  • There was some further discussion about other OSS projects and their similar struggles with "Openness" - Mozilla's recent scrutiny was cited as an example.
  • There was a request for any final comments on the list of non-dev/non-admin tasks posted on the Admin mailing list.
  • It was discussed that the Admin mailing list needs to be relocated - and preferably self-hosted on the Haiku-os.org server.

The decision to summarize and publish regular Haiku Admin meetings is a step being taken to improve transparency and openness largely as a result of recent and past community feedback on the mailing list. Additionally, there has been an Admin Team Page provided with some details about the current membership and responsibilities of the Haiku Admin Team.

Haiku Admin Meeting 2007-05-14:

The meeting started off with a reminder to subscribe to the new Haiku Development Mailing List if any attendees had not done so yet.
