I was wondering if we'd see native support for Intel and AMD dual core and popular motherboards(i915, i945, etc) on any distro(haiku/zeta/whatever.....). Is anyone working on these ?.

I'm not sure that dual core is very different than dual-proc as far as the OS is concerned - so it should essentially be "natively" supported in BeOS, Zeta, AND Haiku already.
As for popular motherboards - this comes down to chipsets and driver support. the i9xx chipsets are intel-specific where the support issues are probably in the video and SATA controller drivers currently.
