fit-PC 2 support
Hello... do you think that Haiku will be able to support the fit-PC 2 Value with WiFi?

Hopefully Haiku will support all the hardware on that small box. It would make an excellent thin-client.
The only thing I am worried about is the Intel (*cough* PowerVR *cough*) GMA500 graphics chip.

Re: fit-PC 2 support
Actually all depends on what module WIFI there is used... Sooner or later I become assured Haiku to support and similar devices. =)
Re: fit-PC 2 support
The only one they mention is an Realtek chip which wouldn't be supported yet
Only atheros chips are supported by colin's port of the freebsd wifi stack at the moment
Be aware that the Z series atoms are generally slower than the N series which is already to slow to render flash videos
And you are right about the GMA500 it is hardly supported on Linux with a propreitary driver that wouldn't work on haiku at all anyway.

Re: fit-PC 2 support
Seeing your coughs I suppose you know the support probability of the GMA500. But fear not, contrary to most other OS's, Haiku running in VESA mode is actually very fast. I can playback many large videos at the same time, no problem.
Re: fit-PC 2 support
Hmm... will the VESA driver work with 1080p (1920x1080) resolution? I want to get a fit-PC and load it with Haiku and hook it up to my 50 inch LCD HDTV. I have heard that the VESA driver that is bundled with Haiku can support widescreen resolutions.
Also, any chance of getting this ported over to Haiku? It is a linux driver for Realtek wireless chipsets.

Re: fit-PC 2 support
Hi,
I'm not aware of anybody currently porting this linux driver to Haiku. The WLAN stack I'm currently working on, targets porting FreeBSD WLAN drivers.
And for now this Realtek chipset isn't supported by FreeBSD as far as I can tell, not having this hardware here, though.
