Haiku bfs driver for windows
Is a bfs driver for windows XP being considered? The http://www.beos.spb.ru/program/73/bfs_for_win.zip doesn't seem to work.

Re: Haiku bfs driver for windows
Sorry but, no. That would not make much sense as our objective is to create our own OS.
Of course by that I mean *WE* will not be doing it, but anyone else could. The source is available, after all.

I think it would be handy. I always change files in beos, then forget to copy them accross to a fat partition (for storage, email, later examination etc). I constantly reboot into windows, then find I forgot my files. Having to then reboot windows is labourious at best! :) It would be a good medium for transitioning from windows to Haiku. As any productive PC user would require both systems in parallel probably for quite sometime.

I can think of some other reasons (some people won't like them though).
I want to set up Visual Studio to compile and build Haiku. Just like skyos does. Then when we get Virtual PC running, the ability to mount and alter multiple BFS virtual partitions would be a very powerful tool.
In case you haven't noticed, I'm a member of the "use the best tools available to make your new tool even better" clan.

Still, all the reasons you give have to context inside the Haiku project itself. As I said, we won't be doin it, sorry.
