I was wondering if anyone was thinking about porting Python to Haiku, or if it had already been ported.

Hi auwdawg,

Haiku comes bundled with Python. :)
And perl for that matter...

But then how do I create a Python file? Do I just go into Pe and save the file with a .py ending?

Nevermind: I just checked that out and that is how you do it.
