Real hardware accelerated graphics working under Haiku

Hi everyone

I recently experimented with Haikus possibilities a bit and was surprised what was possible with Haiku right now.
I wrote a weblog article about it in my new personal Haiku weblog. Users and developers are invited to visit and read it. It has some technical comments, but I will write to the respective developers about them directly.

Nice work everyone involved!

P.S.: Feel free to report about it on the main page if you find it important enough.

congrats. The distance you managed to get has surpised me. I haven't even got as far as getting the bootdisk to work! It compiled just didn't seem to boot! That was quite a while ago however. I hadn't heard of the "slimdemo". Thanks for the heads up. :)

Very interesting. I have been meaning to try running the app_server on our kernel, but have just had too many other things going on lately. I may just have to make that my project for this weekend. As far as the version of the radeon driver being old, things have been lagging becuase it requires a fair amount of work to move stuff from Thomas's build structure into our own (and last time I did that, Thomas release a new version about 2 days later). I should probably try contacting him again (maybe I will get a response this time).
