Thank you, I endeavored :-)

First of all. They're all great. :D

Unfortunately, they play for too long (11 seconds is way too much) and all aren't appropriate for desktop sound events.

Here's my advice: listen to Windows sound schemes, you'll know why the sounds you did don't fit in.

Sound theme for Haiku

I think they fit just fine. There are times when a short sound is needed, but new mail and startup can be as long as one would like.

Sound theme for Haiku

You are right. I try to use them in Windows like a test and them work OK.

I generally dont like any sounds, since:

a) - it gets quite annoying after a while
b) - it interupts any MP3's I'm listening to.
c) - it consumes more system resources, since they have to live in memory in order to be played. It especially makes startup longer.

But as a fad for newcomers it's OK, but it's generally the first thing I disable when I install a new OS.

Peope are different I guess.

I personally can't stand startup and shutdown sounds...they essentially serve no functional purpose. Error sounds are useful, and the occasional alert (like for emails and whatnot) can be useful if you're not looking directly at your screen (across the room?) -- but I agree, I listen to MP3s most of the time, and sounds just annoy me when i'm doing that.

Otherwise the sounds done by Skfyr are pretty calm and soothing for the most part.
