VM additions for VirtualBox or VMware?

Forum thread started by RhapsodyGuru on Tue, 2009-10-06 19:45

Hey...

Any possibility of including a VM additions package in Haiku so that we can use features like Unity and Shared Folders? I would also like support of the VMware or VirtualBox display drivers so I can have dynamically resized desktops and such. Thanks!

There's always VMWare Tools (http://www.bebits.com/app/4614). Shared folders can be done with CIFS (SMB) when that arrives (or plain old FTP). Care to sponsor a bounty?

Re: VM additions for VirtualBox or VMware?

Can't speak for VMWare, but in the case of VirtualBox, those drivers are written by Sun AFAIK. Better to ask on the VB forums.

Re: VM additions for VirtualBox or VMware?

The drivers for VirtualBox are open source. Sources for those can be found here: http://www.virtualbox.org/browser/trunk/src/VBox/Additions

Re: VM additions for VirtualBox or VMware?

Hmm... I wonder if the VirtualBox drivers can be compiled for Haiku then? Is it possible with the GCC4 toolset?
