Forum thread started by lelldorin on Thu, 2014-03-20 18:10

Hello Guys,

many times i add a forum post, i add a linkt to our website BeSly knowledge base. It would be funny to have a option in WebPositive to add a signature.

Signature into the menu bar

Example
1. Visit a webiste and read forum post (can be a comment on a blog or other too)
2. Write your quote or write a new post
3. Select your signature in the menu bar and add it.
4. Post you comment

Re: WebPositive - Signature

Hi lelldorin!

To have this feature more universally for any app (and theoretically not even limited to text), I'd suggest to give ClipUp a look. It's a clipboard manager that provides a history of earlier clippings and offers to protect clippings which are then saved and can be accessed between reboots. With it, you can simply copy the signatures you need and protect them.

Unfortunately, ClipUp has some issues:

  • It's not blending into the Haiku environment, because it uses custom GUI elements and gradients.
  • ClipUp can be invoked with SHIFT ALT C, but then the keyboard navigtion doesn't work.
  • Invoked from the Deskbar, its panel can't be discarded as expected (e.g. with ESC or clicking outside it)
  • Icons aren't vector and have drawing issues.
  • Copying a bitmap freezes the Deskbar

ClipUp is available as haikuporter recipe. The source is at HaikuArchives. I fear that fixing the issues is above my primitive coding skills... But I offer 50 EUR, to anyone addressing the above issues.

    Regards,
    Humdinger

I does not know about a list like this

    Re: WebPositive - Signature

https://dev.haiku-os.org/ Haiku's bug tracker is where these tickets are filed.

  • I will take a look into the code .. but i cant promise anything. Just from looking at the folders structure its seem to be a bit of work, and i have a lot of other projects on my list ;-).
But if i can do it and succeed, it would be good if you can donate the money to my salvation army coprs http://www.heilsarmee.de/koeln/ (You even get e receipt for the financedepartment :). It would save me some time of fundraising :-D.

Great! Having this sort of clipboard history is insanely useful. Maybe, over time, ClipUp can be shaped up to be included in Haiku. At least to me, it's a features I've always wished for in an OS.

But it is a sugestion not a bug. I think this sould not be added into a BUG Tracker.

    Re: WebPositive - Signature

    Hi!

When filing a ticket you can specify if it's a "bug" or an "enhancement". Therefore our Trac isn't just a bugtracker, but an enhancement-tracker as well. :)
