Survey about Haiku and BeOS

News posted on Thu, 2010-07-08 14:33

Miroslav Stimac, a part time student at the FernUniversitaet in Hagen, is writing a master thesis about Haiku and asks you to answer his survey at www.haiku-survey.com. The survey is relatively short, and should be answered in about two minutes.

The aggregated results of the survey are expected to be published in early 2011, so don't hold your breath.

Done ;)

Re: Survey about Haiku and BeOS

i think he should better develop something for haiku as a master-thesis, and not making surveys (opinion polls)

Re: Survey about Haiku and BeOS

Not everybody is an awesome coder and not everyone's focus is coding. I welcome every opportunity for Haiku to even get little tiny foothold in academia. Be it the great work from the guys in NewZealand (hi Clemens, how is it in down-under-and-to-the-right-a-bit?) or Colin's WLAN project or now the research of the more social aspects of our project (if I understand the object the thesis correctly).

Also, this survey may provide some interesting data to understand the needs of (Haiku's) users. Maybe the poll can be replicated in a few years to see what areas have changed by then.

Re: Survey about Haiku and BeOS

Little tiny foothold? I can think of several thesis that have been based on Haiku, and which have/will provide some very useful and interesting (in the case of Stack and Tile) features for Haiku.

The list of thesis on Haiku are quite long for an alpha quality (according to Devs, i'd say it's better than that) piece of software.

Done!
Great idea for next versions (and priorities!)
