What I could compile on Haiku.

Forum thread started by eduardo_38 on Sun, 2010-01-31 18:14

This is the software I could compile on Haiku:
libSDL (http://www.libsdl.org/), libSDL_image, libSDL_mixer but not libSDL_ttf.
libpcre (http://www.pcre.org/)
CMake (http://www.cmake.org/)
Use --prefix=/system
I'm going to try more software.

Edit: I could compile libSDL_ttf with --build=i586-pc-beos

Old but interesting review of BeOS

Here's a link to an old but interesting review of BeOS R3. It's especially interesting for people new to Haiku/BeOS, because it give a nice description of what people can and will do with Haiku.

There are more article links at the bottom, including a description of coding for BeOS:

Haiku A-R1 is working in MS Virtual PC

Forum thread started by AndrewZ on Thu, 2010-01-28 16:06

Apologies is this is a duplicate effort. This morning I successfully installed and booted Haiku Alpha Release 1 in Microsoft Virtual PC 2007. MS VPC 2007 is described here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Virtual_PC
is free and can be downloaded here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=28C97D22-6EB8-4...

I realize that many people are already using VMWare quite successfully. However I wanted to try it out and see how it worked. My impression of Hailu under VPC is that it run OK but the mouse lags behind. I launched the teapot demo and got a frame rate of about 110 FPS. I didn't try USB or audio.

Andrew

Haiku - Firefox Persona

Forum thread started by nicholassimon on Thu, 2010-01-14 02:48

Just to let anyone (and everyone) that uses Firefox know, I made a Haiku Firefox Persona. Nothing special but I think it looks pretty good... Keep up the good work, still a bit buggy, but I like it.
The Firefox persona (a skin for Firefox) is here >>
