PowerNow! for AMD64 CPU's

Forum thread started by kliput on Sun, 2009-12-27 17:00

Hello!

I'm wondering if there are currently developed or planned drivers for AMD CPU scalling technology in Haiku (PowerNow!)? I have an AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-80 processor inside ASUS M51Tr notebook and it's not supported.

I see, there is an old driver for AMD64's PowerNow! on http://www.bebits.com/app/4270, but it's not developed and it's intended for one notebook. I didn't try to edit source, because I lack for knowledge about low-level programming with processors (so I don't want to destroy anything).

Is there a PowerNow! driver project currently? I can provide some debug informations to bug tracker or report new bug, about my CPU and ACPI platform.

Thanks in advance for reply!

Danish Haiku users?

Forum thread started by Troels on Thu, 2009-12-24 13:16

Hello (and Merry Christmas)
Is there any Danish Haiku usergroups?

basic question... can youtube strem videos in fullscreen?

Forum thread started by rakeshw on Wed, 2009-12-23 20:28

Hi, first of all kudos for the great work you guys have been doing here.

I am looking for an free OS that would run streaming video in full screen from various media sites like youtube, etc.

My windows crashed with nasty errors, so I switched to ubuntu which worked for most part but the streaming was not nice. After some google search, I encountered haiku, however it is not clear weather this OS can run streaming videos like from youtube smoothly in full screen mode. Also, my internet connection is over ethernet lan.

thanks a lot!

Free Modem and Hardware for Haiku Dev.

Forum thread started by kvdman on Tue, 2009-12-22 20:00

I'm offering any Haiku developer some older hardware (will mail it regular post) for development.

I'm particularly interested seeing at least one modem supported under Haiku, as many less fortunate only have dial-up to browse the internet. The modem is a pretty good one, U.S Robotics PCI Card...

Other hardware:

* 128 MB PC133 SDRAM
* 32mb PCI Pine Graphics or a 16 MB Diamond Viper Card (AGP) (choose one or the other)
* 10/100 Compaq NIC or a Dlink 10/100 PCI NIC (choose one or the other)
* Four port PCI NIC Card

Please contact or PM me before tomorrow evening if interested.

Alpha 2?

Forum thread started by eav on Tue, 2009-12-22 04:39

Is there any information on when the next Alpha (or possibly beta) will be out and what it may include. I'd love to see a working WiFi stack. I've a notebook just waiting to run Haiku, but I need a secure WiFi connection.

Just what has to be working to get to the next milestone? Haiku looks so good running under VM (which gives me a working WiFi connection), but it crashes a lot. I can hardly wait for the real thing.

Haiku on Notebook with Wireless LAN

Forum thread started by Sonic on Sun, 2009-12-20 23:04

hello all.
first of all, i'm absolutely new to haiku and never tried it before (or beos). on my desktop pc i use windows for gaming and because i got windows 7 for free (yes, absolutely legally ;-). but i also want to give haiku a try, i have a notebook which i want to use with haiku. so what i want to know is, will wireless lan work? i don't know much about haiku but what i heard sounds interesting. i just had some experiences with bsd and linux before, now i'm searching for another alternative. i realy need my wireless lan to work on my notebook, so that's a requirement for me to try haiku.
my notebook is a "HP 550", and the device for wireless lan is from broadcom.
it would be nice if someone could tell me if wireless lan already works.

motherboard suggestions

Forum thread started by xoques on Sat, 2009-12-19 16:24

first off i am a little anti-intel right now so AMD suggestions only. i want to start from scratch and buy a board (from a selection at newegg or not). i would like suggestions for any amd cpu mobo to buy new. i would even entertain ILX ones as well but uatx or atx will do since i have cases for theat form.
what is most popular for developers.
