#dd if=haiku.image.r24209 of=/dev/hda4

and update a /boot/grub/menu.lst file by added this entry :

title Haiku

chainloader +1

next reboot and failed that :

Failed to load OS. Press any key to reboot...

comes with dual PII 300mhz and 512mb ram

I have read through some of the haiku blogs post etc... but non really answer my questions

1) I have a Geforce 2 MX400 card i could use to temporarily test it but would like to buy as compatable card as posible...and cheap is good too :-)

2) would it be better to install haiku to an ide drive or a SCSI drive?

I haven't recieved it yet but would apreciate any suggestions.

part of the reason I bought it is the similar configuration to some of the computers BeOs originally ran on (as in the BeOs video on youtube).... perfomance comparison testing anyone :-)

BeOS Tip Server is back - looking for contributors

Forum thread started by shacker on Sat, 2008-03-01 16:08

Hi - I wanted to get the word out that I've resurrected the BeOS Tip Server. Re-gained control of the domain, re-published everything in WordPress, now accepting comments on tips, and am actively seeking contributors to the site who are interested in cleaning up the old data and in writing new Haiku-specific content.

http://betips.net/

Notes on the conversion here:

Please spread the word!

Haikuforge!

I've been wanting to provide something to the community for resurrecting the best damn OS that once was.

I've been coding together a sourceforge like site for haiku applications. The site is coded in php with a mysql backend from scratch and is coming along very nicely so far. Please note that I am mostly working on the backend code right now so the gui may be a little ugly till it's done ;)

I hope to have project svn access coded in soon to allow developers svn access ;) Also in the future i would like to have a .haikuforge.net style project site information.

P.S. the site is far from complete, so take it easy on me.

Thank for looking!

Haiku on a Hard disk.

Forum thread started by belfasteddie on Mon, 2008-02-25 19:34

Hi, I am using Zeta 1.5 and have just managed to load a Haiku.image onto a Hard drive. I say managed because I have tried following the Howto on Besly and think something was getting lost in the translation.
I copied it to a Beos 5 partition and then deleted the Beos 5.
I then rebooted and get the Black screen with Haiku in colour in the bottom right hand corner, followed by the Blue screen with a White hand
and then it locks up.
Can some kind person point me in the right direction.
I tried the Bootmanager but,to no avail.
If I can get it to boot I will write how I did it, it's very simple.

Haiku Partition ID?

Forum thread started by netster403 on Mon, 2008-02-25 14:23

I formatted a BeFS partition with the newly included disk setup tool and it left the partition id as fat32. Will Haiku be using the old eb(BeOS) partition ID, or will it be something else?
