Haiku on Mucrosoft Virtual PC 7, How To

Forum thread started by Skulldragger on Thu, 2007-12-27 20:03

In my efforts to get the haiku system working I discovered many people are having trouble and asking questions related to installing this system on MS VPC7 so I wrote down my procedure as best as I could.

A very simple way to get this working is to start with a VPC that has a working OS.
Windows:
Start your VPC Console and select the Windows OS you are going to use to install with. (Do not start the V-machine unless you need to clear a saved session and then make sure it is shutdown properly.) Click Settings, select the Hard Disk 2, or what ever hard disk you have that is unused (Current Value=None), and start the virtual Disk Wizard.

I want colaborate hosting for Haiku and their software

Forum thread started by victoramil on Tue, 2007-12-25 01:56

Hello.
I have some dedicated servers, with very low traffic at this time. I want colaborate, with mirrors for the project for example, or storage from opensource projects related to haiku. Of course absolutely free.
If anybody have any comment, or the way to do, i work on it yet.

Thanks :)

Looncraz?

Forum thread started by eightbit on Sun, 2007-12-23 15:57

Is anyone in contact with Joseph Groover "LoonCraz"? He made great strides with his "phos" distro, adding multiuser and such. I would hope he would be helping with Haiku. Anyone hear from him?

installing a downloaded image

Forum thread started by mounty on Fri, 2007-12-21 06:16

Hello, this question must be very basic but I can't find the answer anywhere. I downloaded a pre-built image and unpacked it to produce haiku.image of size 104857600 and type (according to GNU `file') x86 boot sector. I copied this onto /dev/hda3 (GNU/Linux terminology: third primary sector) using dd then added the following to my existing grub.conf:

title Haiku
rootnoverify (hd0,2)
chainloader +1

but when I reboot and select this entry it says

Failed to load OS. Press any key to reboot...

Any ideas ? Did I do something basically wrong ?

BeOS vmware image

Forum thread started by eightbit on Fri, 2007-12-07 19:22

I'd like to play/show BeOS PE /Max at work. Of course the office only runs windows. Whats the easiest way to install a BeOS vmware image? I've seen some other instructions elsewhere but they seem cryptic for something that seems fairly simple. And is there already a BeOS PE vmware image available for download anywhere?

Haikuware image

Forum thread started by eightbit on Fri, 2007-12-07 19:16

Using Linux(ubuntu) is it possible to transfer Haikuware's VMDK image to a partition. I realize the image must be converted first. I'm assuming qemu would do this. But do I convert to raw and how do I transfer/copy?
