Haiku on Intel-Mac **without** virtual machine?

Forum thread started by xanadujuun on Sun, 2007-08-19 04:03

I just got Haiku running with VMWare, but I'd rather boot straight into it with bootcamp or something similar.

Is this possible?

How does/will haiku compare to the performance levels and benefits of the Original OS

Forum thread started by blitz459 on Sun, 2007-08-12 00:46

I have been out of the BeOS loop for a while and recently noticed Zeta went down. Haiku, being open source seems like it has a good chance for continued future development. Since Haiku does not have access to the original BeOS code I am wondering if Haiku is intened to duplicate the actual media performance of BeOS or just the look and feel of the OS. I was watching some of the old video demonstrations of BeOS and forgot how amazing the OS was at managing multiple movies etc. Would be amazing the get the OS running fully optimized on computer hardware out today. Anyways just wondering about the goal of the project and if Haiku is intented to acheive this level of performance one day.

WalterCon 2008 - Suggestions, Ideas, Thoughts

Forum thread started by tonestone57 on Mon, 2007-07-30 18:35

Unfortunately WalterCon 2007 was canceled. And I'm hoping to give suggestions so that WalterCon 2008 does not suffer the same fate and hopefully becomes a Huge success. Just my insights.

WalterCon 2008 is probably going to be the *One* where it’ll make a difference, big impact because Haiku should be Alpha or Beta by then. This event has to be done right because it can skyrocket Haiku awareness.

Ok here goes,
1) Announce the date & location 3 months before the event is to take place.
2) Start planning at least 3 to 4 months before the event

3) Next, I think the event should actually be held in Germany or England ( or maybe elsewhere in Europe ). Why so? Because look at country of origin for the visitors coming to the Haiku site:
