haiku isn't BeOS...we want to have the spirit of BeOS but not the legacy of be inc, which failed. So why is haiku going to be so much like BeOS if the whole spirit is start from scratch and do things the Right Way?
I hope there will be a change in the software repository storage otherwise I do see a problem with the acceptance of Haiku/Beos.
A central preferably checked repository is required.
In my case I did provide once a software for Beos. (Lyx) The problem was that some of the files used were from Bezip.de. As all knows Bezip.de disappeared. It is possible that my work became useless. It is also possible that some packages from bebits.com could be used, but I will not take the effort to repackge the program since bebits have another problem.
I know that network stack is only 33% finished. But is there anything available to connect to a network. Without it, it is not much fun to play with haiku.
The LinuxBIOS project aims to take down the last barrier in Open Source systems by providing a free firmware (BIOS) implementation. LinuxBIOS celebrates its Sixth anniversary this year, and has an installed base of over 1 million LinuxBIOS systems. With the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project, that number is expected to exceed 10 million users in 2007. LinuxBIOS supports 65 mainboards from 31 vendors in v1 and another 56 mainboards from 27 vendors in v2.
At forums I read as to install Haiku, but it is impossible to me...
Here, that I made:
- I'm loaded with BeOS MaxEd (install mode)
- Install BeOS Max on a disk + I install loader BeOS
- I'm loaded with BeOS MaxEd (livecd mode)
