Progress on the gcc4.x Haiku port

Forum thread started by latte on Sat, 2006-07-29 23:47

Hi all -

I've wondered for a while what the reason was that Haiku uses gcc 2.95.3. Did a search and found that it is because gcc 3 broke the C++ ABI.

Anyway - that thread also mentioned that there was a port of Haiku to gcc 4.x underway. So, I was wondering - is there any news on that port? Is it still going or has it been stopped?

I am willing to do graphics and logos and what not for any Haiku not-for-profit project.

I will also do graphics for for-profit projects, provided I am compensated.

Please see http://donatedgraphics.haiku-security.com for some examples of work done so far.

We are currently experiencing daily wiki spam on at least 3 pages (I suspect they're linked from external sites - creating more visibility).

Currently, there is little we can do other than revert it when it occurs, but as proposed here:

emu10k1 grainy sound

Can someone post a howto guide for getting the emu10k1 (sound blaster live value) sound quality in shape?

Right now, at least for me, it's really bad.

Network transparency

To me, BFS plays the most fundamental role in making BeOS what it is. But the uniqueness of how the file system is used is also the source of my greatest doubt that Haiku will make it to my desktop. I have all my files stored on a server, mounted over NFS. Now, I would love to let Haiku replace my current desktop system, and with unix on the server enjoy the best of both worlds.
