Doesn't seem to be any news updates for a month on the main page, how alpha 4 is progressing maybe?

Just Wanted to say thank you

Forum thread started by pcdebol on Tue, 2012-10-02 15:27

It is so nice to see an alternative OS that is not the mess that is Linux.

It looks like you guys are making a good start. Just wanted you to know their are people out there that appreciate the work you do.

I may have some hardware that I can contribute to the project. I'll have to check with the company owner to see if he minds. I'd offer to help with some coding but have no time and it has been a few years since I have had to write any c code.

Gamma Control

Forum thread started by samui on Wed, 2012-09-26 07:34

Does anybody know if it would be possible to add a systemwide gamma control on the screen options menu? Does this kind of function require extensive display driver hacking? Having gamma on at least overlays would be great.

Many times the videos I play with mediaplayer could need gamma correcting. Maybe a little project for somebody to add a gamma slider to mediaplayer and then save the setting on the media file's gamma attribute.

Current haiku looks good and works fine on my old laptop, let's make it even better! ;P

cheers!

Unifying support

Forum thread started by dsjonny on Sun, 2012-09-23 22:30

Hello

Can somebody tell me: is the Logitech's keyboards/mouses with Unifying receiver are working on Haiku? I want to buy keyboard and mouse with this receiver, and I do not know is it need a special program/driver or not. For Windows there are software for it.

Thanks!

Registry of Java Apps

Forum thread started by fishpond on Sat, 2012-09-15 16:05

Currently, the thread "Apps I run on Haiku" kind of serves as a list of various Java-based applications somebody got to run on Haiku.

I think we need a specific and structured registry of those applications, including

  • what they are (name, purpose, version),
  • how to install them,
  • how to launch them
  • and how well they actually perform.

This should allow to attach any resources required for installation/launching/patching, download locations and of course all licensing stuff required to stay legal. User testimonials would be nice as well, other things are a how-to on bug reporting. A list of applications not yet there, with a reference to the blocking tickets also serves its purpose, especially if users can vote on how much they'd like to see it working.

Maybe best place is here, maybe that should be a section in Haikuware? It should most definitely be a prominent place since it's key in attracting new Haiku users and also helps anybody to exploit the advanced usability of Haiku via Hamish's port without tedious trial-error cycles.

Another point in favour is the push this would provide to the completion of the OpenJDK port itself. Again, thank's Hamish for this great piece of work.

Wine and Xorg

Forum thread started by judgen on Fri, 2012-09-14 13:26

Yes i am finally done. My wine+X port is not only able to run MS office programs but also almost anything that runs under wine in linux. It is indeed slow due to the monocode. But i am looking for beta testers that are not asshats and demand things. Take it or leave it kind of persons, that contribute fault messages and care about the OS.

Much love: Judgen
