new drivers gfx

Forum thread started by xsive on Wed, 2012-05-09 16:35

Are drivers still under construction for more upto date gfx cards? Seems like its been an age and none of the newer cards are being supported, which is a major issue for me and probably others? Dont want to be stuck on vesa modes on a HD monitor! Any updates guys?

Thanks

Seems C1E bug is squashed.

Forum thread started by Zwolfe on Sun, 2012-05-06 00:59

Awesome job, whoever killed the C1E bug that had been preventing my BIOS from having it enabled.

Couple days ago I installed the latest nightly on my box.

Box is an Athlon II 255, asus m4a89gtd usb 3 motherboard (AMD 890GX). C1E enabled made Haiku reboot previously while the OS was initializing.

Coupled with proper Radeon support (4290 onboard IGP) full-time Haiku use just went up a few more notches.

Thanks!

QEMU doesn't work properly

Forum thread started by Giova84 on Thu, 2012-05-03 18:10

Hi,
i have installed qemu-0.11.1-haiku.zip.
In terminal i run this command:

qemu -hda /path/to/haiku_nightly.img

and i can see for just a second the boot process, then qemu window close immediately. And in terminal i read "Abort".
If i replace "-hda" with "-cdrom" i get an error on quit.
What's going wrong?

Thanks.

Error while compiling Mplayer

Forum thread started by Giova84 on Wed, 2012-05-02 16:24

Hi,

I'd like to compile mplayer and mencoder on Haiku.
I download the source, open terminal in source directory, run "configure" command and i obtain this error:

Detected operating system: Haiku
Detected host architecture: UNKNOWN
Checking for cross compilation ... no
Checking for host cc ... cc
The architecture of your CPU (UNKNOWN) is not supported by this configure script
It seems nobody has ported MPlayer to your OS or CPU type yet.

Error: unsupported architecture UNKNOWN

If i run "uname -p" i get also unknown architecture. Why? And how i can resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Application (QT) without sound

Forum thread started by Giova84 on Wed, 2012-05-02 02:30

Hi,

I have installed Cuberok (a QT app) on Haiku.
Is this app: http://goo.gl/T0rdu (is a cached page because qt-haiku.ru is temporary unavailable)

Ok, i have all needed libs (QT and SDL), but i don't hear no sound from Cuberok.
Looking at this screenshot i have noticed a thing:
http://qt-haiku.ru/images/rsgallery/original/cuberok-0.0.11_ffmpeg_sdl_b...

In AboutDialog we can read "Current plugin: FFmpeg". But In my aboutdialog i just read: "null engine" and nothing about FFmpeg. But i have FFmpeg installed on my system and In Cuberock's folder there is a file called libplayer_ffmpeg.so, i've also tried to create a "plugins" folder in Cuberok's directory, and renamed libplayer_ffmpeg.so to player_ffmpeg.so but this solve nothing. I miss something? Someone has Cuberok installed on Haiku? If someone want to try, this is download link: http://qt-haiku.ru/rokdownloads/qtapps/Multimedia/Cuberok_0.0.11.zip

Thanks.

Haiku review from Nerds Central

Forum thread started by ribbonz on Mon, 2012-04-30 16:15

Ah, a nice new vid about Haiku at:

http://nerds-central.blogspot.com

Installing to Virtual Box. What's cool is that the video is high enough res that you can actually read the text of stuff on the Desktop (unlike a lot of grainy Haiku vids out there).

The guy doesn't seem to know a lot about Haiku going in, but his enthusiasm as he discovers things is fun to watch.
