Haiku needs money

Forum thread started by StargateFan on Mon, 2010-07-26 01:31

How much money does the Haiku need to hire additional talent and work fulltime and how much time would be needed to bring the first beta to market and get a functional OS.

I know alot of bussiness people.

Talk to me. We are all tired of MS sticking it in our ass.

Bounty for Intel GMA 3150 support

Forum thread started by RhapsodyGuru on Thu, 2010-07-22 17:31

Hello:

Earlier, I mentioned that I am going to do a tutorial video series for Haiku starting in late September. I really need a working intel_extreme driver that properly detects and fully utilizes the GMA 3150 chipset. For this, I am prepared to offer a $100 dollar bounty to whoever adds support for this video chipset. Other than that glaring issue, I have the perfect PC I am going to use to demo Haiku. Normally I would be sated with just settling with VESA drivers, but since I am using a widescren display and plan on doing some advanced tricks, I need an accelerated driver. Any possibility we can make this happen and soon? Thank you!

Confused on what computers can run Haiku

Forum thread started by macsociety on Wed, 2010-07-21 05:10

I posted before about computer hardware list and although that helps, I am still confused on what computers can run Haiku. Is it a crap-shoot or are their general guidelines of what type of system can run Haiku.

For example.... I am a Mac user and happen to also have a BeBox. Fun.... But, I want to use Haiku one day and may make my own i7 based PC. Not to run Windows or Linux but strictly, Haiku. I am just afraid if I buy the typical i7 based motherboard and CPU and make a nice system, it will not run Haiku at all. I don't want some old and slow system either so really want to build a fast Intel based i7 system if I end up buying my first non Mac PC.

So, is their a general guideline list of CPUs and basics to stick to for Haiku based system?
