Haiku orientation towards device drivers

Forum thread started by Alan Whiteman on Tue, 2015-03-10 16:42

Can someone confirm that the design of Haiku does NOT support the concept of a general usb device driver as is typically found in Linux or MS Windows?

I gather from looking at the documentation that Haiku is oriented fully in the direction of application program being its own USB device driver and only talking to its device through calls to the USB sub-system rather than opening something like "/dev/usb/mydevice" and making blocking IO requests to a usb device through a provided device driver.

If Haiku does support general device drives, then can someone in the developer community point me to a representative example?

BStringView background color (SetLowColor)?

Forum thread started by dcatt on Mon, 2015-02-16 02:59

Trying to figure out how to set the background color on a BStringView object. I attempted to use the SetLowColor method, but doesn't work. Is it even possible to set the background color on a BStringView?

QT noob question

Forum thread started by clasqm on Thu, 2014-12-11 07:15

I have QT4 up and running on my system and I thought I'd experiment with porting an app I found

Google "how to port qt apps" and the answer comes back "it's easy! Type qmake ..."

~> qmake
bash: qmake: command not found

~> pkgman install cmd:qmake

*** failed to find a match for "cmd:qmake": Name not found

So I take it there is an alternative to qmake that we are using?

Found a bug: where should I post it?

Forum thread started by Arkhana on Sat, 2014-08-23 10:37

Hello everybody,

Yesteryear or so, I was experimenting with Haiku R1 Alpha 4. I made a wireless WPA2 encrypted internet connection successfully, but after rebooting, my internet connection was gone and I couldn't set up a new internet connection anymore. Recently, I have been interested again in Haiku, so I had the idea to post this bug. I have to say that because it's a long time ago that I found this bug, so I don't know a lot of details anymore.

Is this the right place to report bugs?
