Does Haiku core development have a pthreads package yet?

Forum thread started by steveh on Wed, 2007-05-16 00:52

Hey,

Was wondering if any of the core Haiku developers came into possesion of a ported pthreads library that could legally get included in the source tree? I think it was either related to the Mozilla porting process or some addition that the Zeta group had done.

Reason I ask is that that pthreads and a Posix networking stack is probably the only thing standing in the way of getting most of Mono working.

Los Angeles Haiku Interest ?

Forum thread started by Sevik on Mon, 2007-04-16 04:40

Hola,

I'm decent at programming, but new to Haiku and very interested. I was wondering if there are people in the LA area that might be interested in organizing some group effort to assist the Haiku project either with docs, sample code, mini apps or whatever the Haiku powers need that we can do.

Organizing online is cool too, but I always find it motivating to have actual contact and socializing -- often keeps volunteer projects alive and reduces people floating away since the project is more personal.

Thanks !!

ps. My programming skill set is C++ under Windows for desktop development and media stuff (using DirectX); and Perl, PHP and C (Apache Modules) for web services.

How to place an image (JPG,, GIF, etc.) with YAB?

Forum thread started by Miroslav on Sun, 2007-04-15 12:53

Hi,

I am trying to learn YAB and to programm a small tool.
But I did not find any information how to place an image in a window.
I just want to place a simple image (JPG, GIF, etc.) within in window.
How can I do this?

I just saw a documentation how to place an image within a button... so it must be possible to place it as an independet element in the window, too.

Thanks for any information!

NPC Developer Tutorials

Forum thread started by Deej on Fri, 2007-04-13 16:13

Digging through old data on my old BeOS machine that was sitting stagnant in my basement for oh so long, I found the old Neo-Programmers' Collective (NPC) Developer Tutorials I started years ago (almost a decade now!).

If anyone wants to continue work on them for publishing somewhere, shoot me an email and I'll provide them to you. I'll post what currently exists if no one steps up to BeGroovy later, and maybe push forward on them as time allows.

powerpc development?

Forum thread started by noeska on Thu, 2007-03-29 21:43

What is the status for a powerpc port for haiku?
What would be a good place to start if there is not already one?
How hard will it be, e.g. is there a lot of x86 specific code in haiku?

Thanks for your answer in advance.

Serial debugging at bootup

Forum thread started by allenb on Fri, 2007-03-16 17:05

I am trying to figure out what exactly is causing my main computer to reboot itself while booting into BeOS/Haiku. I am booting off of a CD/boot floppy combination: BeOS Max CD and boot floppy with AMD processor fix, IDE replacement drivers, and RAM limiter pre-installed. I have a serial null-modem cable and another machine an I am trying to capture a serial output stream to analyze what is going on.

My problem is, I cannot see any serial output over the serial line. I have enabled serial debugging in the boot menu that pops up when you hit spacebar, and have tried every combination of the other options in that menu to no avail.

Using build images with Virtual PC

Forum thread started by beam on Tue, 2007-03-13 17:56

I downloaded the image from the Haiku Build Factory, and I can't figure out how to make it work with Virtual PC. There is an article on the wiki explaining how to do it, but the wiki is down. It would be appreciated if anyone could tell me what to do. Thanks
