PCI or ISA compatible soundcards in Haiku?

Forum thread started by caleb on Sat, 2015-07-11 00:45

I installed Haiku in dual Pentium 3 motherboard (BeOS 5 is installed in that machine, with ISA AWE64 soundcard perfectly working), I tried different soundcards with no luck in Haiku:

- ISA AWE64
- ISA SOUND BLASTER 16
- PCI Yamaha YMF744
- PCI Crystal CS4614
- PCI CMI 8738

Does anybody know some PCI or ISA soundcard working in Haiku? Better, if they dont need external drivers!

Thanks!

reoccurring donations

I need to know how to stop my reoccurring donations to Haiku development. I have bugs that I have not been able to log for over 6mo because no one has been able to help fix my Trac account. I am not willing to offer my money to this project anymore.

IRC channel locked.

We incourage poeple to ask for help on #haiku, but now one has to be registered just to ask a question. Who was the brain child that thought this would help haiku? He/she needs to be educated about being welcoming to new users / devepopers.

This has to be fixed!!!

Web positive not loading some sites.

Forum thread started by twk amz on Sat, 2015-07-04 22:59

Hi, I recently installed a nightly release and so far everything is working ok. But the only problem is that WebPositive is working in a weird way. It only loades some pages, like haiku-os opengameart and gets stuck loading sites like google and youtube(even wikipedia). I can, of course, install bezilla or another browser and it works fine, but google drive and other sites don't work so well on these browsers. I don't know what to do

Please help!

How can I watch youtube videos on haiku?

Forum thread started by twk amz on Fri, 2015-07-03 11:57

Hi all, first of all, I want to say I am a linux user(for now) and I´m trying out haiku. Apart from a few problems, the os works pretty well, and if I can manage to solve those problems I will use it as my primary OS. One of these problems, is that I couldn´t manage to play youtube videos. I´m using alpha 4(not the nightly build), i tried using youtube-dl(downloaded from the main site) wich of course didn´t work because it was written for linux. And also, I couldn´t just use html5 because for some reason, youtube says that WebPositive doesn´t support html5.
I noticed, however, that there´s haiku-depot on the nightly release, which lets you install a haiku version of youtube-dl. But I would prefer to stay with the stable release.

Any ideas on how can I play youtube from haiku? Or maybe install youtube-dl without haiku-depot?
Thanks!

Also, none of the answers posted here: https://www.haiku-os.org/community/forum/how_watch_youtube_haiku worked for me.

EDIT: aaaand I can see you're already on it!

Getting no wired/wireless IPv4 address anymore in the nightlies (hrev49321). There's the usual configuring notification but after that nothing. This has been the case for at least a week or so.

Lenovo z580

I just bought this laptop: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-z-...

I downloaded today's nightly image and booted. I get the boot screen for about 5 seconds. Then I get a Panic: Can't find boot partition. But I am booting from the CD.
