Forum thread started by DFergATL on Sat, 2014-08-16 02:46

I ran a little program in Demo called BeSnow. Now I can't make it stop!! I have even shut down the laptop, unplugged it and removed the battery. As soon as tracker starts up that damn program starts running again. I can kill the thread, but how the hell do I make it go way???

Installing the last nightly image

Forum thread started by YoYo on Thu, 2014-08-14 20:05

Hello,

Sorry, it's a question from a newbie user !

I installed Haiku R1 Alpha 4.1 a few days ago and I love this system.
But because my network card is not detected (Realtek RTL8111/8168B), I would like to install the last nightly image.
I tried all the day with the threads found on this forum, but without success:
- From a burned CD: it freezes on the Haiku logo screen.
- From a bootable USB disk: it displays "Read error".
- I downloaded the RAW, ISO and ANYBOOT image, but the problem remains the same.

So please, could you help me by explaining step by step how to install the downloaded image from this Web site ?

In advance thank you very much for your help.

Creating a symbolic link

Forum thread started by DFergATL on Mon, 2014-08-11 23:25

I downloaded one of the latest nightly (rev 47665). This is the first time since alpha 4 I have used Haiku. I am trying to create a link for Web Positive on my desktop. But, no matter what I do I can't create a link, I can't copy, move...nothing. So, how do I put a link to start Web Positive onto my desktop now? I used to just create a link on the desktop by right clicking and going through the context menu.

booting Haiku and hangs - Dell Inspiron 1000

Forum thread started by mkstreet on Sun, 2014-08-10 15:39

Hardware: Dell Inspiron 1000; 512 MB RAM;
BIOS vers A06

I just downloaded and tried to boot from a Haiku CD...and it hangs during the boot process.

As far as the Welcome Screen icons, it lights up: atom; disk/magnifier; and plug-in card.
I've never seen it go past this.

I tried holding SHIFT to go into the boot loader. Booting in safe mode makes no difference.
I also tried booting with user add-ons diabled. No difference.

When I send debug messages to the screen, every time the log stops at these lines:

usb uhci: no devices found
usb ohci -1: iospace offset: 0xe4000000
add_memory_type_range (132, 0xe4000000, 0x1000, 0)
usb ohci -1: smm is in control of the host controller

I'm not sure what to try next.
Thanks!

TexLive

Forum thread started by Zap123 on Thu, 2014-08-07 12:19

Hello, I'm trying Haiku on my netbook and it is really fast and almost everything works. I'm wondering if TexLive still works on HaikuOS, I didn't find any recent information.

Haiku on Glada Mini-PC

Forum thread started by clasqm on Tue, 2014-07-22 07:37

Has anyone managed to run Haiku (nightlies) on one of these?

http://www.giadapc.com/products/minipc/slim%20series/i53B.html

Or does anyone look at the specs and see a reason why it would NOT run? Where I live I can only buy this online, so I can't waltz into the store with a USB stick and say "I'll buy it if it boots THIS".

While it is not very expensive, it's still more than I would like to pay for a doorstop.
