Trouble connecting to freenode with Vision

Forum thread started by intermittentTra... on Wed, 2010-06-02 09:36

Hi all-
I'm having trouble connecting to Freenode with vision.
Also, I noticed that clicking the link on the community page to IRC, then
the big link at the top (Main room or something?)
brings up an error. Apparently the browser doesn't know how to call Vision?

Thanks

Unable to Install Haiku

Forum thread started by augdawg09 on Tue, 2010-06-01 21:30

Recently, I tried to install Haiku on my desktop machine, but the installation was stopped. Haiku said it encountered a "general system error" and stopped at the libwebcore.so file. Does anyone know what this means?

No USB Mouse

Forum thread started by intermittentTra... on Mon, 2010-05-31 06:35

Hi all-
I was running Haiku in a Virtualbox VM and had no trouble. Intrigued by the speed, I wanted to boot it directly and start poking around. The installer starts, but I can't move my USB mouse.

I've checked USB mouse options in the BIOS, and they're all enabled. Could there be something else?
Thanks

How to connect to network share using NFS

Forum thread started by ptrlsn on Fri, 2010-05-28 20:16

Hello,

I have a NAS server running Linux that I would like to connect to from my Haiku R1A2 machine, but so far unsuccessful.

I have tried the following commands from Terminal:

1)
mount_nfs ip-address-of-server:/volume1/Music /mount/test 1000 100
Note; I'm not sure about the 1000 100 part. I saw someone else doing it this ways. I have created the directory /mount/test

2)
mount -t nfs ip-address-of-server:volume1/Music /mount/test

All shares are located in the directory volume1.

My NAS server requires authentication so I have to provice a username and password somehow. NFS is started on the NAS server

What am I doing wrong?

Once I get it working, I would like to have Haiku automatically connect to my shares on the NAS server. How do I do that?

EDIT: I forgot to mention that when I issue any of the above commands in Terminal, nothing happens. The share isn't mounted and Terminal doesn't release the curser. It is as if it continues to try and mount the share, but never succeeds.

TIA
Peter

Kernel Panic?

Forum thread started by GeeKTuX on Fri, 2010-05-28 12:56

http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/7115/dsc01156l.jpg
and the keyboard don't work, i have this problem also with the alpha 1, can i do something?

how to figure out what crashes haiku?

Forum thread started by tb on Fri, 2010-05-28 11:20

I tried R1A2 on both my computers.

On my modern-ish desktop it works fine as far as I can tell, no support for my (USB) wireless chip and no way to get that box to a place I can reach with a network cable, so not exactly useful, but it works. This is really cool because versions of Linux newer than 2008 won't work unless I disable APIC (and SMP with it...) and PC-BSD won't do SMP. Windows? No idea, not going to try.

Next was my (pretty old) laptop. I didn't bother trying it in live cd mode (I should have!), just installed. Installation went fine, but Haiku freezes while loading the desktop, and then only responds to the power/reset button - ctrl-alt-del does nothing. Haiku does work when I enable safe mode. The other options in the boot menu don't seem to matter.

So how do I make Haiku always boot in safe mode? Or even better, how do I figure out what is causing the freeze and how do I disable just that component?

gcc4hybrid nightly works?

Forum thread started by cipri on Thu, 2010-05-27 20:16

I have tried the latest gcc4hybrid nightly , and it doesn't work for me anymore, even when I boot in safe mode. The live-cd starts in safe-mode, but there I can not open the start-menu, to open a program. If I install it on hdd, it freezes just after the desktop is shown.

so, has somebody tried the gcc4hybrid nightly? does it work for you?
(perhaps i will try a gcc2hybrid too).
