questions about installing and booting haiku

Forum thread started by robertneville777 on Fri, 2010-04-16 06:15

Hey guys! I've run the livecd, and I must say that I am impressed! So I want to say that first.

Anyways, I have a problem. I have installed haiku on a multiboot system, so I've been trying to edit grub to boot haiku. I've tried a lot of things, but I cannot get GRUB to boot haiku.

Here's a pic of all my partitioning information:

Anybody see what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks guys, and keep up the hard work!

Guide on Errors and Messages

Forum thread started by stellarpower on Thu, 2010-04-15 16:50

Hello World!

To be blunt, I'm rather a newbie with Haiku, (and with computers in general compared to the abilities of many of you guys!), and often have errors when I run programs or move files, although this is when using Alpha 1. Basically, I thought that the community in general would proabably benefit if someone were able to put this subject at the top of the list with regards to completing the user guide. Nothing much, just a quick summary of what common messages mean and how they can be solved. For example, unfortunately, messages like: "Cannot open with Tracker: Invalid Argument" are nice and descriptive, but I personally do not have the knowledge to understand what this means.

Hi,
is it possible to have 2 keyboard layouts at same time, with switching between them
by using hot keys (or tray icon)?

Mounting Images

Forum thread started by stellarpower on Wed, 2010-04-14 20:56

Hi,

I've been trying to mount filesystem images so that I can easily transfer files to my virtual pc in qemu, but can't get the command to work. I typed

mount file.bin /folder

I've tried this with images of an entire disk, and a dd of one of my partitions, but all I get is

mount: Invalid Argument

Can anyone help please?!?!?!?

Has anyone used the Beos i810 driver in Haiku?

Forum thread started by brian48 on Thu, 2010-04-08 01:06

Ive tried Haiku several times and I've never been able to get it to load due to it not supporting my i810 graphics. I see someone here, http://www.freelists.org/post/haiku-development/Is-Intel-810-Video-Drive..., said they were working on an i810 driver for haiku. Anyone know how that is coming along?
