Cannot change screen resolution

Forum thread started by Wolfgange on Tue, 2014-07-22 03:54

I installed Haiku (the latest nightly build since the stable wouldn't boot) and if I start it up normally, it loads the intel driver (Which is correct), but with 16 bit color depth. For whatever reason, only 8 bit color depth works with Haiku (Somehow after the install it got set to 8 bit depth and it worked). Otherwise I can only see about 1/4 of the screen and everything is distorted. Using that 1/4 of a screen I have tried to change the color depth, but every time it is changed, Haiku crashed (pressing power does nothing). I can boot using the failsafe graphics (vesa), but changing anything there won't affect it when I boot back up using the intel accelerant.

So... 2 questions:

1. Is there a file that I can edit to change the color depth used with the intel driver?
2. If not, is there another way to change the color depth used with the intel driver while in vesa-mode?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

patch for Goldendict needed!

Forum thread started by khallebal on Sun, 2014-07-20 01:48

hello
i've been trying for 2 days now to compile Goldendict with no success, the code is quite difficult to patch because alot of X stuff are mixed with other code and that makes it difficult for a non-C++ guy like me to patch it.
so, has anyone succeeded compiling this app and cares to share his patch with me?,or is willing to give me hand with patching 1 file and its header? this file is the only thing that's holding the app from compiling.
the file is: https://github.com/goldendict/goldendict/blob/master/hotkeywrapper.cc
its header is: https://github.com/goldendict/goldendict/blob/master/hotkeywrapper.hh
thanks.

Will X work in haiku?

Forum thread started by Wolfgange on Sat, 2014-07-19 06:09

How can I find out if [Insert program here] can be built in Haiku?

Although I doubt it would work, I was wondering if the NDS emulator DeSmume would be able to be compiled in Haiku?

Here is the linux build instructions: http://wiki.desmume.org/index.php?title=Installing_DeSmuME_from_source_o...

There are many libraries required like GTK, so I'm assuming it can't be done, correct?

Sum-It spreadsheet app filesize

Forum thread started by un_spacyar on Thu, 2014-07-03 02:08

This is strange: I installed Sum-It from HaikuDepot, and the binary file size is about 30 Mbytes. Time ago, this app only had 1 Mbyte.

What happened :-) ?
