Boot directly into Haiku with Bootman?

Forum thread started by nauska on Mon, 2010-03-08 07:01

When installing bootman, the shortest time interval is 5 seconds before Haiku is booted by default. Is there any way to have this set to zero seconds and have Haiku boot imediatly?

Is this how the sound is in virtual machines? How about a real install?

keyboard nonfunctional on Haiku Alpha install - Dell Studio 17 laptop

Forum thread started by kp3ft on Fri, 2010-03-05 01:50

Hi all,
I installed Haiku Alpha version on my Dell Studio 17 laptop, but the keyboard is completely non-functional. I downloaded the latest nightly build yesterday and installed it, but still have the same problem. Does anyone have any ideas on a fix?
Thanks
Jeff

Access to shared network drive on a winXP machine

Forum thread started by ScoobieNewbie on Thu, 2010-03-04 20:08

Hi, this is my first attempt using a non-winXP OS!

So, i have an old laptop ( dell inspiron 5100 ) and decided to give Haiku a go.

So far, ive just been restarting the machine with the haiku installation cd, and going straight to the desktop, without installing.

I'm very happy to say everything works fine! Machine boots ok, Haiku loads nicely, ive used the browser to access the internet, and played video files from my existing winXP partition, without having to mess around with anything, which is great, superb job!

Theres just one thing more i want to do, but really have no idea about how to go about it.
( i have done a limited search through the forum and the online documentation without luck )

I have 3 other assorted pc's, all running winXP, all with shared folders, all can see each other on my home LAN.

What i want to do, is to be able to access those shared folders, from within Haiku.
I just havn't found any info about it in your documentation.

Your suggestions are appreciated!
Thankyou!

Problem first time installing the OS

Forum thread started by wep on Thu, 2010-03-04 13:54

Hi All,
I've created an image CD which appears to boot OK. I have an old W2K drive that I want to use for the OS. I don't want to keep W2K, just overwrite it with Haiku.
After the CD boots I do get the splash screen OK but then an error at the top of the screen saying "No bootable partitions found!"

The disk is bootable, just occupied with the old W2k, what should I do to make this hard disk usable with Haiku?

Thanks!

I didn't get a verification email (nor was it in spam), I get this on top of every page every page:

Warning: <acct_mgr.web_ui.MessageWrapper object at 0xb81d086c>

And this on the "Resend verification email" page:

Trac detected an internal error: UndefinedError: "projec" not defined
