Trac ticket creation privileges

Forum thread started by kvdman on Sat, 2010-02-06 16:43

I suggested a user create a ticket, but when he's logged in he has no privileges. Is there an error with Trac?

desklink possibilities

Forum thread started by humdinger on Thu, 2010-02-04 17:58

Hi guys,

I'd like to offer a little hint, esp. to new users that don't have a BeOS history.
You can add any application, folder, query, link or document as a replicant into the Deskbar tray by entering in Terminal:

desklink {application, folder, query, link or document}

A click on the new icon opens the object. But that's not all! You can create a context menu for it to offer other options. For example:

cd /boot/system/apps
desklink "cmd=Active window (2s):Screenshot --window --border --delay 2" "cmd=Remove replicant:desklink --remove=Screenshot" Screenshot

This adds one menu item "Active window (2s)" that calls the Screenshot app with the commandline parameters to take a screenshot of the active window, including its border, after giving you 2 seconds to quickly activate your target window.
The second command adds a menu with the commandline to remove the replicant itself again.
Cool or what!?

You'll need at least a Haiku revision of r35402 for the removal to work, as Philippe has fixed a bug in "desklink". Before, every replicant was added as "DeskButton", so the removal line would be "desklink --remove=DeskButton", which would remove all replicants added via the 'defective' old desklink.)

KDL Syslog Output

Forum thread started by stellarpower on Thu, 2010-02-04 17:27

Long story, but my live version crashes at boot, and I've been asked to get a copy of the syslog. So, Does anyone know:

a) if it is possible to save an output of KDL to a file?
b) once I have a copy of the results, either typed or saved, how I can search for other syslogs, and compare the results?

Thanks.

Internet authentication

Forum thread started by tito on Thu, 2010-02-04 09:33

Hi everyone.

I've installed R1/alpha 1 and it works (at least in VGA mode).
Now I would like to access the web. My ADSL provider however requires authentication (i.e. username, password) .
On Linux I set up access and authentication straightforwardly using pppoeconf.
Running ifconfig on Haiku everything looks fine, green light, I get a quick response when I ping my IP-address, but i don't know how to configure authentication.
Any suggestion is warmly welcome.

Haiku on Sony UX490N

Forum thread started by pistooli on Wed, 2010-02-03 16:31

I tried Haiku Alpha1 (and some nightly builds as well) on a Sony UX490N, which used to be a Sony premium model (Core Solo cpu).

I works surprisingly well (boots and responds ok, wired lan works), but I have a problem.

It has a stick for navigating instead of the mouse (like on those ThinkPad laptops, the little red stick in the middle of the keyboard). It is also used to mouse left click, but it is so sensitive, that makes the entire thing unusable.

Is there a way to disable the click function and retaining the mouse movements?

Thanks!

GCC Versions- What's the difference?

Forum thread started by stellarpower on Wed, 2010-02-03 15:05

Hello,

I was wondering,

1) What's the difference between GCC2 Hybrid and GCC4 Hybrid?
2) How will my choice of GCC build affect the system or any applications on it?

I was specifically looking to upgrade to nightly version 35295, and am currently using Haiku as an end-user rather than a programmer, although this is a field that I would like to explore at some point.

Many thanks for any suggestions that you have!
