Graphics don't load properly from live CD

Forum thread started by ti.teg.tnod.I on Mon, 2009-11-16 00:38

When I boot from the live CD the graphics load as if my resolution is not supported. I cannot read a thing and I cannot see my cursor. I kind of just get random shades of blue with a hint that a dialog box might be in the right side of the screen. I'm dual booting Windows XP and Ubuntu 9.10 right now. Running "dxdiag" on Windows returns:

Hello

I just installed Haiku on my old PC. However i cannot see my network card. In the network the list of devices is empty. It is my first try of Haiku (alpha). The ethernet card has been manufactured by pentagram and it is using Realtek chip RTL 8139d chip.

mouse/keyboard doesn't work in live cd

Forum thread started by fengshaun on Fri, 2009-11-13 03:50

I got the live cd to boot (finally!) but now, when the hand appears and there is a dialog asking for desktop or installer, neither the mouse or keyboard works. I'm using a usb wireless logitech mouse and keyboard, but I also tested it with a PS2 mouse and keyboard with no luck! Has anybody had this problem before who can help me with this?

Let me know what extra info you need.
I'm using the disable IDE DMA (or something like that) option along with safe-mode display at 1024x768.
Thank you.

Instaler can't initialice Be filesisten.

Forum thread started by hikaru on Mon, 2009-11-09 15:33

Hi.
I spent a week triying everything I could imagine to install Haiku on my test machine. First with the cd and next using dd to copy the raw image to the hd butt the problem is always the same. The drivesetup program identifies de hd but cant do any modifcation to it, only delete partitions, it cant create new parttions neither it can initialize the BeFS so the instaler sais that the isent any suitable partitions to install.
When trying to initialize BeFS the drivesetup program sais tha it cant initialize de BeFs in the partition "".
I tried creating the partiotions with varios partition programs, partition magic, paragon, acronis, fdisk.....
but the error persists.
Mi test machine is a PII 450 with 196 MB sdram 4Gb hd am ati Ragepro 8MB agp, Creative (ensoniq ES1371) sound card and an realtek rtl 8139d network card. The mainboard is an Asus P2B (440 BX).

Sorry for the long explanation, and for mi bad english. I wish someone can help me a bit.
And well, I already tied every safe option on the boot menu but nothing better only eslower loading time. and the live Cd works perfectly if I go to the descktop.

Thanks in advance for any help.
bye.

Haiku Boot CD Hangs

Forum thread started by techtrekker on Sun, 2009-11-08 17:59

I'm attempting on installing Haiku on my custom-buit PC with has an Asus M3A78-CM motherboard. The motherboard specs are an onboard ATI RV610 GPU, HD 8-channel audio codec, and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU. The problem I'm having is that on boot up, the OS installer freezes up on the third icon. Does anyone know what might be causing the installation to freeze on boot up?

Alternative to Using GRUB as a Boot Loader - Boot It NG

Forum thread started by Quentin on Sat, 2009-11-07 01:48

I've been trying to get Haiku to install using GRUB just before the alpha RC1 was released, I've had no such luck with my current machine. I was stumbling around in my cd collection and found this old Partition Editor/ Bootloader Application called Boot-It NG, Well it works with Haiku. It's currently Installed on a Single 40Gb Harddisk, with Boot-It Ng installed to the Hard Disk to act as a Bootloader. It's kinda funny though. I had downloaded this program a long time ago, and never thought it would see any use again. Well, It pays to clean out our cd-rom collection every so often!
