Whether PCMCIA support?

Forum thread started by Punk_Joker on Sun, 2014-05-25 16:35

Does Alpha 4 or latest nightly builds support for PCMCIA cards? More specifically, the adapter on the LAN. Interested in, because there IBM Thinkpad 600E, and other interfaces in addition to PCMCIA adapter no.

KeePassX on Haiku

Forum thread started by Kev on Sun, 2014-05-25 15:58

This is my experience trying to get KeePassX, which I noticed has some porting effort, running. I'm on more or less stock Haiku hrev47209 x86_gcc2.

Haikuporter does not come installed. Found https://bitbucket.org/haikuports/haikuports/wiki/Home and from that, opened a Terminal and ran these in order (had to change the third and fourth lines a bit) from ~/:

git clone https://bitbucket.org/haikuports/haikuports.git
git clone https://bitbucket.org/haikuports/haikuporter.git
cp haikuporter/haikuports-sample.conf /boot/home/config/settings/haikuports.conf
# lpe ~/config/settings/haikuports.conf # didn't end up using this...nothing to change
ln -s /boot/home/haikuporter/haikuporter /boot/home/config/non-packaged/bin/

Then I ran (based on https://www.haiku-os.org/tags/recipe ):

haikuporter -S keepassx-2.0a5.recipe

After a lengthly repo-populating process (I noticed keepassx went by...) it said:

Error: keepassx-2.0a5.recipe not found in tree.

So, I tried again without the .recipe, as it appeared in the populating list:

haikuporter -S keepassx-2.0a5

This time:

Error: package keepassx-2.0a5 can not be built for architecture x86_gcc2

Huh. I noticed at http://bb.haikuports.org/haikuports/src/82718d7e457e/app-admin/keepassx/... that they specify the arch as just 'x86'. So I went back to that conf file I didn't see fit to change:

lpe ~/config/settings/haikuports.conf

...and uncommented the line SECONDARY_TARGET_ARCHITECTURES="x86", saved, and tried again. Even though it went way longer without complaining, again it ended with:

Error: package keepassx-2.0a5 can not be built for architecture x86_gcc2

So back to lpe ~/config/settings/haikuports.conf and changed it to read TARGET_ARCHITECTURE="x86". Ah, now:

Encountered problems resolving package dependencies:
  1: nothing provides devel:libgcrypt needed by faked_keepassx-2.0a5-2
Error: unable to resolve required ports for keepassx-2.0a5
Error: package-infos:
Error: /boot/home/haikuports/app-admin/keepassx/work-2.0a5/repository/keepassx-2.0a5.PackageInfo
Error: /boot/home/haikuports/app-admin/keepassx/work-2.0a5/repository/keepassx_source-2.0a5.PackageInfo
Error: repositories:
Error: /boot/home/haikuports/packages
Error:

At this point I'm out of ideas. I don't know how to get something to provide devel:libgcrypt.

Help?

Thanks,
Kev

Prevent Tracker windows from being reopened on startup

Forum thread started by abda11ah on Wed, 2014-05-14 01:43

How would I go about doing that? Whenever I reboot, all open Tracker windows reappear. I don't want this behaviour, preferring to start fresh on every boot.

Strange thing is, I can't find any Tracker preferences to control this behaviour, and it is the only application affected. Please tell me how to fix.

Thanks,

Flash/Shockwave?

Forum thread started by Red Barchetta on Sat, 2014-05-10 06:12

Judging from what I have found, you must have seen this (or similar) millions of times - but despite all that, I STILL haven't really found out much - let alone where...

I am using Haiku Alpha 4, and BeZilla as my browser. Can't seem to find the shockWave/Flash player plugin.

Python bindings

Forum thread started by HaikuForever on Wed, 2014-05-07 16:04

What's the current status of the Python bindings for Haiku?
If I am not mistaken, in 2011 someone worked on a Python-related GSoC project for Haiku. Was something usable eventually released or are we still stuck with the obsolete (and probably broken) Bethon bindings?

And, above all, what about PyQt? From what I saw on a Russian website, it seems that they were working on porting a similar project, called PySide:
http://qt-haiku.ru/index.php?option=com_rsgallery2&page=inline&id=59&Ite...
but apart from the screenshot, not much information is given on that webpage. Does anyone know something about it?

Has anyone managed to use Qt with Python in Haiku?

Thanks

HaikuForever
