Keyboard mapping

Forum thread started by wjstarck on Wed, 2009-06-03 20:00

Hello-

I have the latest GCC4 Senryu image running under VMware server on a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ470N. Everything works great except the keyboard mapping (the Delete and Arrow keys are incorrectly mapped). If I change either the system or layout, none of the settings seem to stick. I'm in the U.S.

Is there a way to hand edit /boot/home/config/settings/Key_map?

I know this is still alpha, so I know MMMV, just more curious than anything...

Cheers,

Will

Windowshade feature???

Forum thread started by wjstarck on Fri, 2009-05-22 23:34

Wow...I'm am user from the old BeOS R3 days in the mid 1990's (loved it then) and I was absoluteley thrilled (to tears) when I fired up the Haiku.vmx today. Haiku is without a doubt the finest operating system I've ever had the pleasure of using.

Anyways, it seems I remember that back then that I could double click on a window tab and have it roll up the window ("windowshade") leaving the tab showing in place on the desktop. Now that same action minimizes the window to the tracker, which I suppose is probably better in the long run, but I still miss the old way.

Am I remembering it right, and if so, any way to implement the feature?

Massive kudos to all of you who must have toiled thanklessly over the past 10+ years for a job well done!

We all know that firefox have no printing support at the moment. I found a way to print websites or parts of websites as pdf out of the firefox using a Add-On. Here the Tutorial: http://www.besly.de/menu/search/archiv/inet/firefox_html2pdf_eng.html

Can't boot Haiku (The colored bootsymbols never appear on my screen)

Forum thread started by Xbertl on Wed, 2009-05-13 12:09

Hello,

I described this Problem already in the Ticket #3441, but it seems that the reason for this problem is not known.
So I want to know if some one here has the same problem.

Ticket #3441:

Hello,

I can't boot Haiku but I think I don't do anything wrong during the Haiku installation.

How I tried to install Haiku:
1. flashnul (How To )
2. From a beos based system. Copy to a Partition, makebootable and integrate in Bootman
3. Using Virtualbox and Haiku. I configured virtualbox to have direct access to a physical HDD (Look in the VirtualBox manual at point 9.10). Use "Installer", makbootable.

I tried 1 and 3 on an Intel Laptop and Haiku did boot on this machine. But on my machine the zbeos never appears. I only have a black screen with a blinking small white line in the top left corner.

My Hardware:
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9550
Mainboard: MSI K9A2 Platinum (NB:790FX; SB:SB600)
GPU: Radeon X1950 Pro (RV570)

But I have the same Problem on an old PIII 800 with fujitsu-siemens server mainboard 440BX (On this machine I tried only installation methode 2)

This guy has the same mainboard an the same problem

How do you use the tv application in the basic haiku distribution? How to add channels? How to set up interface? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Custom screen resolution

Forum thread started by jasongullickson on Sat, 2009-05-09 13:16

I'm sure this has been answered elsewhere but in doing a quick search I was unable to locate the answer.

I'd like to run Haiku full-screen on a White MacBook (1280x800) but I only have two options available in Haiku (I'm running it via the "Q" emulator).

I don't know enough (yet) about Haiku to know if this is a Haiku config issue or a Q one, but if someone can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

How to change resolution?

Forum thread started by Acid_1 on Wed, 2009-04-15 20:31

As the topic suggests, how do I change the resolution within the OS, as the default is larger than my screen, and VirtualBox is giving me a hard time scrolling through it. Thanks.
