WLAN support of Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235

Forum thread started by humdinger on Thu, 2014-04-24 17:50

Hello everyone,

Does anyone run successfully the subject's WLAN card (see Intel's site)?
It should be supported by the FreeBSD driver and therefore work under Haiku, but I'd appreciate a real-world confirmation.

Thanks!

R5 virtualisation BeBochs/Qemu?

Forum thread started by prOSy on Thu, 2014-04-17 12:54

Hello,

well ... the day that never comes ... at the end finally arrived... )-:
A couple of days ago my last BeOS R5 hardware-compatible machine died.

So, now my question:
Any user(s) out there with experiences about virtualisation of BeOS R5?
I know that it's been possible to install R5 onto a virtual machine within an older version of virtualbox (and i tried that back in the days) but it has been unusable, whyfor i've been staying on real hardware. Until 2014/04/14 at least...

Now i'm searching a way to get R5 successfully running within a vm on HAIKU-OS and it would be interesting if anyone here has been successful with installation and operating it.

Don't get me wrong, i'm a _really_ happy HAIKU user, but a few applications i used (and purchased) over the years seem to be -until HAIKU-OS reaches R1, or beta at least- better running on R5.

- Anyone running R5.03 on HAIKU within BeBochs or QEMU?
- Anyone knows sth about HPKG files for those 2 Applications (for HAIKU-post-PM-nightlies)?

How to install pkgman?

Forum thread started by LNHX on Wed, 2014-04-16 23:55

This is my first time ever with Haiku/BeOS, and so far i'm liking it very much.

I've read i can update the installed packages by using the "pkgman" package manager, but it's not installed by default.
How can i install it?

Sorry if this is a noob question, i'm a complete newbie.

wacom

I have a wacom; "listusb -v" tells me it's a

Vendor ID .............. 0x056a (Wacom Co., Ltd)
Product ID ............. 0x00de (CTH-470 [Bamboo Fun Pen & Touch])

"listimage | grep drivers " tells me that a wacom driver is loaded:
1990 /boot/system/add-ons/kernel/drivers/dev/input/wacom 0x81887000 0x81889000 0 0

but I don't know if it's recognized and how to use it, since every move on the device is useless

Current Assembler in Haiku?

Forum thread started by Octopus on Mon, 2014-04-14 10:47

Is it possible to develop directly in Assembler within the current Haiku Alpha release? Which are the tools / compilers to be used for that?

P.S.: does that Assembler also support German umlaut symbols in comments or labels?

Deskbar logo change 'operation not allowed'

Forum thread started by K on Mon, 2014-03-31 17:54

I've changed the Deskbar logo in Alpha 4.1 but in the nightly I get this:

~/Desktop> xres -o /boot/system/Deskbar deskbar.rsrc
Error: Failed to open output file "/boot/system/Deskbar": Operation not allowed

Making Deskbar writable through command+I doesnt work. Can I make it allowable with some chmod command perhaps? If so, what exactly do I type?
