booting BeOS5

Forum thread started by inseculous on Sat, 2007-04-28 17:06

During a console debugging boot does anyone know what point sysInt2: 23 is at. I'm trying to run BeOS 5 on an old pentium laptop and that is the point it stops at, no matter what options I choose in the bootloader menu. I suspect it might be a chipset issue. If anyone knows or has an idea where I might get help it is appreciated.

thank you

Test Haiku in Real Hardware

Forum thread started by andremun on Thu, 2007-04-26 17:43

I obtained an old Pentium II machine with 128MB ram and 10GB HD. I would like to use Haiku in this machine for some tests. I would like to know how I can do it from a HD image, and what software should I need to do this.
Thanks

No mouse in Haiku

I'm running a nForce3 based board with a PS/2 KB and USB mouse but I can't get the mouse to work. The mouse does not light up so my guess is that USB stack does not work. Any sugestions?

Copying files to Haiku running in Parallels on OS X

Forum thread started by davidblumberg on Tue, 2007-04-17 12:33

Ok, so I discovered Haiku a few days ago after almost forgetting about it for 3 years... And wow, I can't believe this project has evolved this far! I'm all excited about computing again because I thought BeOS & (fun)computing was dead. Anyway, I decided to try it out on my iMac Core Duo in Parallels, and it works! :)

Now, I decided to try out some of my old apps on Haiku but getting the files inside Haiku wasn't the easiest thing, but here's how I did it, if anyone wants to try it out. The idea is to create an image file of your files that you'll mount inside Haiku.

In OS X:
1. Gather your files in a folder, I called it "HaikuFolder" and put it in my home folder.
2. Open a terminal window and create a CD imagefile:
$ hdiutil makehybrid -o HaikuFiles.iso -iso HaikuFolder/

Disk images not recognized/usable under linux

Forum thread started by maddog39 on Thu, 2007-04-05 02:54

Hello all,

I have been running the latest Haiku VMware images for a few days now and wanted to try it out on some real hardware. First off, I would like to mention that I am a heavy linux user, so I have tried several ways already to fix my problem. So I go and download the disk images from the nightly build site (one of them) and I try to burn it to a disk first with K3b. But that says the image is unusable. Next I try to use dd to burn to a disk (CDR) and that doesnt work. I also use dd to try to write it to a disk partition and that didnt work either, although it probably wouldnt boot either way because Haiku prolly cant boot on an ext3 partition.
