media server

Forum thread started by rrinni on Sun, 2007-02-25 17:42

hi!
I know this is not the right place to ask for THIS, but i'm still using DANO as my main OS, and now my media server for some reason doesn't work anymore. that's a bit of a problem, cause this is the main reason i used the sys for... i just wanted to ask iff I could use the Haiku media server with DANO, and iff I can, where do I get it from?
Im using BeOS for 5 years now, but I really don't have much idea how to solve problems with it, cause usually there are none ;)
You'd really help me with an functioning webserver!

Importing data/apps to Haiku@VMWare

Forum thread started by humdinger on Fri, 2007-02-23 17:33

Mellow greetings!

I finally installed a VMWare image of Haiku on my new notebook. After a few months without BeOS it's a relieve to see a familiar face again! :)

Playing around with the bundled apps is nice, but I'd really like to see which 3rd party software already work. How can I get apps/data from either a BFS backup CD or from a dowload from within Windows (NTFS formatted HD)?

Or is that impossible yet?

I seem to be able to ping my HD-Satreceiver. ftp and wget refuse to connect though.
Any ideas anyone?

Haiku rocks!

ipro1000 under BeOS Max?

Forum thread started by j_freeman on Wed, 2007-02-21 18:55

Been trying to get an R5 box up and running, but for the life of me I can't get it networked (surprise?). The D-Link, which has an RTL8139 chipset, doesn't want to work for some reason, although it has before. I tried the various drivers on BeBits with no luck. But I digress...

I've got Max installed in VMware, but I can't get the ipro1000 Haiku driver to work with it. Do I need to build it with a target of R5, or can I just use the Haiku binary?

Dual booting BeOS and Windows XP

Forum thread started by robot on Sun, 2007-02-04 06:34

I have installed BeOS MAX on my laptop. It is on a primary partition. There is another primary partition on the drive with Windows XP on it.

I would like to alter my Windows XP boot.ini to allow a BeOS choice. OSX-Intel is able to boot this way, can't BeOS work as well?

I do not wish to boot from a CD/Floppy, as my laptop only has an external CD drive (no floppy). Also, I would prefer to use the Windows boot manager, as opposed to a third party boot manager.

Edit: I just installed the Be boot manager from within BeOS, and I am quite pleased with it :)

Now if only I could find a video driver for my Intel® 830M chipset :)

Harddriver limits

Forum thread started by TheDuck on Sat, 2007-02-03 19:44

Just a quick qestion for now :)

Does Haiku (right now or in the future) support harddrives above 128GBs?

(do any other versions of beso support higher than 128?)

Thought of this question after reading "What to look for before trying Beos distro" article on Beosmax.org (link: http://www.beosmax.org/wiki/index.php/Talk:What_to_look_for_before_tryin...)
