New to Haiku, problem!

Forum thread started by Ki on Fri, 2006-11-03 08:34

I'm running Haiku through VMware. It looks nice but it doesn't come with a browser (well from what I can see), so ahh, how do I head off to BeBits and download some stuff?

Thanks, Ki.

[Edit: I just found a previous post about this, but the answer wasn't what I was looking for.

Problems booting Haiku

Forum thread started by renacuajo on Wed, 2006-10-25 20:36

Hello,

I have installed a haiku.image on a harddrive, as it was described, but when I boot from that drive it shows the Haiku-logo for 5 seconds and then reboots. I tried to use failsafe-modes by pressing 'space' but it didn't react.

laptop problems - beos related...

Forum thread started by clieven on Wed, 2006-10-18 16:54

so, i inherited a laptop (hp omnibook xe3) with win98. i installed beos r5 pro from cd, using partition magic to chop the 8 gb drive to 6.5 for windows/1.5 for beos. long story short, the laptop is not well supported (no graphics driver, no sound driver, no network driver, etc) and now i'm trying to remove the beos partition to free up hard drive space, as the os is not very useful on this particular machine.

Hello ,
I'm trying to(and am a die-hard fan of) boot Haiku inside Qemu, but get the following :
"Select boot volume : Current : None"
I can't seem to find any place to boot from, although I have pointed to the right .image file.

New Haiku boot manager

Forum thread started by NicePics13 on Tue, 2006-10-03 13:24

Earlier today I downloaded rev18988 to my Haiku partition, rebooted, selected Haiku from grub and oh? What's this? A new boot loader? One that unfortunately can't find my Haiku partition... :(
Please add support for extended partitions as well to the new Haiku boot manager.

Solution: nForce2 audio

Some time ago I asked the members of this forum how to get rid of the hissing noise emanating from the line-out/headphone jack of my onboard sound chip on Dano/Zeta.
And wouldn't you know it? Haiku saves the day
