Trouble installing MidnightCommander in Haiku PM

Forum thread started by un_spacyar on Thu, 2014-01-30 01:49

Hello. I downloaded MidnighCommander with the haikuporter tool. I get the hpkg file, however when I copy to /home/config/packages I get the following error:

"nothing provides lib: libglib_2.0 >= 0.3800.1 needed by mc-4.8.11-1"

However, I had the glib2-2.38.1-1.hpkg already installed in my system, and I had the following libs:

/boot/home/config/lib

libglib-2.0.so.0
libglib-2.0.so.0.3800.1

Anyone had this issue?

Thank you!!!!

Is 64 bit Haiku broken?

Forum thread started by vidrep on Fri, 2014-01-24 17:19

Starting with hrev46732 I have not been able to boot 64 bit Haiku. The installer goes into KDL immediately after the boot screen appears. Until now, my normal procedure is to write the anyboot image to a USB drive, then boot with failsafe video mode enabled at 800x600 resolution.
Can anybody else verify if there is a problem, and suggest any steps I can take to circumvent the boot issue?

Cannot install Haiku

Forum thread started by nsigr on Wed, 2014-01-22 18:51

Hello

I downloaded Haiku Alpha 4 Anyboot zip file and I followed the instructions to write it to a USB stick.
The problem is that when my PC tries to boot from the USB stick I see the message "Loading System" and then the system reboots.

I will write a description of my computer because I think some of my hardware may not be supported yet.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4000+
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2 (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2500#ov)
RAM: 5GB DDR2 PC5300 (667Mhz)
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD5450

Thank you for any replies

Hi,

Any suggestions on how to list detailed information on media plugins? I need more info that what is provided in FileTypes. For instance, I want to list video plugins, whether they are read, or write. What color models are supported - RGB, YUV, etc. What color depth is supported - 24-bit, 16-bit, 15-bit, etc.

Looking to not write this myself but I will if needed.

Thanks!

Forum thread started by walera on Fri, 2014-01-03 22:55

I want build newest image myself from sources. I install to my computer Haiku R1 Alpha 4.1. Successfully download sources by help commands:

git clone git://git.haiku-os.org/haiku
and
git clone git://git.haiku-os.org/buildtools
but by command
./configure
I get the error
./configure: line 702: package: command not found
Unsupported target architecture: ""
If I write commands
./configure --target-arch x86_gcc2
I get additional errors
Unsupported target architecture: "x86_gcc2". Only native architectures of the host platform can be specified.
./configure: line 209: -print-libgcc-file-name: command not found
dirname: missing operand
Try 'dirname --help' for more information.
./configure: line 212: -dumpversion: command not found
./configure: line 213: -dumpmachine: command not found

Where is my error? Before I build Haiku R1 Alpha 2 w/o any problems on PC under Haiku from svn repositories. Long time not use Haiku and want recall this OS. Please help me...

r1alpha4 install fails in qemu

Forum thread started by lucmars2112 on Wed, 2014-01-01 17:48

Hello

I've downloaded the r1alpha4 iso file. The checksums were ok. Running haiku in qemu as a cd-live is ok.

I've made a virtual disk to install Haiku on a vm : the installation goes fine but encounter an I/O error.

The virtual disk was formatted in qcow2 with 1Go and all that launched with 1024 Mb. Afterwhat I've formatted this disk in beos fs.

Is there something wrong in these setting ?

I use precise-puppy as a frugal install (that could be the explanation)

I could use the vmdk image instead if this is a kind of pre-installed virtual machine (am I wrong?)

Beside that, HaikuOs is very nice and I would like to experiment it

Thanks

Can't Install Wifi Driver

Forum thread started by Tyro65 on Tue, 2013-12-31 04:50

I have used the script install-wifi-firmwares.sh to download and install the drivers. My wifi controller was not showing up in the Network Preferences, so I ran listdev and PRO/Wireless 2200BG (Calexico2) showed up. I checked the .../firmware/ folder and found the /iprowifi2200/ folder. It contains ipw2200-fw-3.1.tgz. But, of course, I cannot expand it to a read-only folder.

Frankly, I'm not certain that this is the correct driver. If it is, how do I expand the gz file to install it?

Thanks.
