Can't boot from Haiku USB/CD

Hi guys,

Just heard about Haiku and where BeOS got to. I've installed latest version to USB stick using Image Writer for Windows.

Everything installed without issue. However, when I try to boot the stick, all I get is a Haiku Graphic with black background.

It sits there doing nothing. I've tried waiting (3-5mins), but still no go. Surely it boots under 5mins?

I've installed plenty of Linux distros to stick, DVD, HD etc, even Virtual Box. I'm confident I'm missing something.

Any suggestions?

Where to find example package file recipes?

Hi,
Now that Haiku's package manager is merged into the main branch, I was wondering where I could find example package recipes. I have read over the entries at the Haiku developer wiki, and at the haiku-porter wiki, but I still have questions about the file layout. It would be helpful to play around with an existing package in the repos, but when I tried downloading an src package (nano I think), nothing seemed to happen. Where can I download the repo files manually? I also tried Google-ing "Haku Package recipe examples", but to no avail.

Install from Anyboot?

I've got a Dell Mini 9 (with no CD) that I can boot with the anyboot image. yeah! However, I'd like to install it on the mini, but there is no built-in installer. Am I missing something? Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Trying to install LAME and GOGO encoders in Haiku, but can only find information on installing them in BeOS, from the Haiku-Ware website. Is either encoder for BeOS from Haiku-Ware compatible with Haiku, and is the installation the same procedure? Thanks

What's a good email provider for Haiku? I'm looking for one compatible with Haiku's mail application - not a web based service. I live in the U.S. but it doesn't matter where it's hosted - as long as I can use the native mail client.

OpenJDK Haikuports script failing in latest nightly releases

I keep getting errors when compiling the latest OpenJDK release supplied by Haikuports.
The dependencies and what looks like Apache Ant compile fine, but it stops once it gets to 'ls: cannot access jdk: No such file...' and '/bin/sh line 15: hg: command not found.

Is there any way to fix these errors and compile it properly?
