SoundPlay not working on hrev45673

Forum thread started by admin on Thu, 2013-05-16 11:00

I installed hrev45673 on an ASUS EeePC 701. Everything works great and I see Wireless is on by default and all my networks correctly detected. However, any and every SoundPlay version I tried starts with a very specific error (which i can't reproduce right now since I'm not on Haiku right now). Just wondering if this will be fixed soon... :(

No Deskbar, Tracker on startup

Forum thread started by macsnafu on Wed, 2013-05-15 18:00

Okay, I just keep meddling with things until something breaks on me. This time, when I boot up, I get my background color, but I don't get the Deskbar or Tracker running. The mouse is there, and I realized it had booted up when I waited so long that my screensaver started on me, so I did a CTRL-ALT-DEL and the "Restart Deskbar" button was there. I click on it and it starts up, and everything seems to work, except for mounting drives (see below).

So I'm not sure what I did--messed up my boot script?? I ran checkfs and initially it found and cleared up some problems, but upon rebooting, I had the same problem, and further checkfs runs didn't turn up any recurring problems. So I'm kinda stumped as to what's happening.

One other noticeable symptom is that my additional drives aren't mounting on startup, either, and won't mount manually when I try to mount them, so I'm stuck with just my boot drive. The additional drives are ntfs and fat32 drives, not BFS drives, if that means anything.

Oh, I'm running Alpha 4 (44702), btw.

No network connection with Gigabit RTL 8168B

Forum thread started by rama65 on Mon, 2013-05-13 09:44

Hi there,
I´m new to Haiku, using it for about one week and am impressed of its speed and the consistent environment. After HD-installation everything was fine, but no network connection. The network adapter does not appear in the device list of network configuration.
Here are the details of

I searched in the Haiku source tree if my device is supported and found that it should be.

Maybe the problem is the hardware revision number. Haiku found 0x480000000, in the source for RTL81XX I found three spins with three different revision numbers
SPIN1 0x30000000
SPIN2 0x38000000
SPIN3 0x38400000

All of these numbers are different to mine. I don´t know what spin I have.
How can I find it out? And how can I change it in the driver?

BTW: I couldn´t read that the RTL81XX driver was loader, is it?

Hoping for your help!!

Video problems

Forum thread started by sega dude on Sun, 2013-05-12 01:20

I installed Haiku on an old Gateway 6022GZ laptop. I am having a strange problem with the video. When I booted from the CD, the video was scrambled and only on a small part of the screen. So I restarted and used the fail safe video option 1280X768 32 bit. I was then able to install no problem. I had to do the same thing again after booing up the newly installed OS. The video fits just about the whole screen, but it wraps around. See the picture in the link below. I had to take a picture of the screen because it didn't show up in a screenshot. Do I have to install a driver? See the specs link below

Will using RAW partition for install cause a problem in current state?

Forum thread started by Arctos on Sat, 2013-05-11 03:31

I have searched high and low, but cannot find anything relating to problems that may arise by using a RAW partition for my Haiku install.

Could someone enlighten me?

Thank you :D

File system issues

Forum thread started by un_spacyar on Sat, 2013-05-04 17:10

Hello. I'm using alpha 4.1, and I had the following problem: sometiemes, after a KDL error and the following reboot; I found that some changes in files are lost.

I know that probably that the last changes made in the filesystem can be lost, because of the characteristics of BFS; but I found that sometimes, the changes lost were made 4 o 5 hours BEFORE the KDL. Actually, I use the 'sync' Terminal command to "force" to apply the pending changes to the filesystem. Are they any settings to configure this automatically?

Sorry if my description is not very clear. English is not my native language.

Thank you!

How to enable right click?

Forum thread started by Sir Gan on Thu, 2013-05-02 21:33

I installed Haiku on my Macbook Pro 2008 model. It has a single button and right clicking doesn't work with two fingers or with Control/Option/Command keys.
I've looked in the Mouse preferences and there's nothing there to remedy this.

Is there a way to enable the right click?
