Error installing Qt 4.9

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Wed, 2013-01-16 21:33

So I was poking around the internet for Qt for Haiku so that I could build the latest version of Arora web browser. I found the Qt 4.9 source, and configured it. Everything seemed to be going well. It asked me to agree to the license, if I wanted to install open or commercial, and it recognized the Haiku system. Here's what I get near the end of the build. Can someone explain what's going on? What do I need to do?

Compiling Error - Help!

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Tue, 2013-01-15 07:04

I'm attempting to build the latest Abiword source code in the Haiku environment, and I got an error when I was compiling in terminal. I typed, ./configure and was presented with this:

configure: error: in `/boot/apps/abiword-2.8.6':
configure: error: The pkg-config script could not be found or is too old. Make sure it
is in your PATH or set the PKG_CONFIG environment variable to the full
path to pkg-config.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables DEPS_CFLAGS
and DEPS_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

To get pkg-config, see .
See `config.log' for more details.
/boot/apps/abiword-2.8.6>

What is going on? How can I fix this? What is pkg-config?

Also, for those who are more tech-savy, am I compiling source properly with these commands:
./configure
make
make install

Thanks. I'm new to the who 'building from source' so go easy on me! Thanks everyone!

bootup resolution

Forum thread started by rlfrost on Sun, 2013-01-13 23:20

Guys, I have a boot issue. I need to boot into failsafe video mode because I am using a monitor that doesn't support whatever the default boot resolution in haiku happens to be. Booting in the failsafe video mode works fine, and then I can change my video resolution to anything I want. and it works perfectly. When I save preferences, I can see that the file /boot/home/config/settings/kernel/drivers/vesa is created and contains the proper resolution and depth. However, when I reboot, Haiku boots in whatever its default resolution is unless I choose failsafe video mode and do the whole process again.

There must be some way to simply eliminate resolutions that aren't compatible, I am thinking.

Any suggestions.

Thanks,

RLFrost

Haiku on cloud

Forum thread started by dimitris89gr on Thu, 2013-01-10 19:44

Is it possible to use a Haiku image on a Ganeti-based cloud?

Cannot boot from USB on MacBookAir5,2

Forum thread started by JohnPuterhead on Wed, 2013-01-09 00:52

Machine spec: Intel Core i5-3427U CPU - 1.80GHz

Got as far as the Haiku splash screen, very pretty, then a kernel panic and dumped into kernel debug land.

Oh well. :-)
