Boot on Anyboot or ISO (both CD and DVD discs tried) image fails at drive detection stage, stating that ata1 (which seems to be the DVD drive) is still expecting data...

Tried all combinations of safe mode options, no luck.

Any ideas?

HAIKU R1 Alpha 4.1 on Asus Eee PC 701 4GB Surf

Forum thread started by porga on Fri, 2012-12-14 06:55

Hello to the community.

Last night I installed HAIKU R1 Alpha 4.1 on Asus Eee PC 701 4GB Surf using USB stick and everything went well. I have to do some more testing to see if all components are working, but generally seems OK.

Only thing that I noticed (because I had some movies on SD card in Eeee PC, that videos 720p have lags when I tried to play them.

In comparison, when I used XP, Lubuntu or Openelec media player (http://openelec.tv/ linux based) on this machine a month ago, 720p videos (the same ones) played without any lags (1080p videos had problems).

From this, I can conclude that Haiku has some issues with Intel GMA 500 graphic chip?

My question is: Is there any driver that I can use for Intel GMA 900, or is there any way that existing driver can be tweaked?

I tried to run included 3d demos, and seems that they run OK. Can this be issue with preinstalled video player on Haiku?
Which is best video player for Haiku?

Any help is appreciated.

ADSL broadband internet connection (PPPoE)?

Forum thread started by litildivil on Wed, 2012-12-12 13:17

I apologise if this is solved/answered somewhere before. I couldn`t use any other way to connect to internet except pppoe. So is this impossible with Haiku? I`ve read somewhere that it`s not in priority list but someone still might work on making gui for pppoe connection. I`m looking forward for a solution since the haiku is a great project. Thanks in advance.

CD/DVD-RW written with an old CD/DVD-Rom-Drive

Forum thread started by Morbid on Tue, 2012-12-11 00:50

Hi everyone,
have a problem with some CD/DVD-RW disks that was written with an old CD/DVD-Rom-Drive.
Sometimes they will or will not detected with my new DVD-Drive. If it will detect i can
clean it with cdrecord. If it will be not detect the DVD-Drive is trying to read the disk
continuous but never stops. On trying to eject the Disk manually Haiku is leading
me to KDL and needs a restart.
Is it possible Haiku registers, after several tries to read, that there is a problem with a CD/DVD-RW
and stops procedure, Medium will be not eject automatically, so i have a chance to clean it
with cdrecord?
Just an Idea cause disks are ok after cleaning and rewriting.

Regards, Morbid

Crontab in Haiku?

Forum thread started by Cerb on Mon, 2012-12-03 03:48

Hi!

Is there any analogue to linux cron in Haiku? And if there is, where to get it?
All I need is to auto-run simple shell script once per day.

Thanks!

haiku won't. . . shutdown?

Forum thread started by rayyu on Wed, 2012-11-28 02:10

this has been bothering me for some time, but every time I shut down, it goes shuts down into shell (I think) and I have to type 'exit' to get out of it. And then it restarts and I have to press the power button when it gets to the lenovo boot screen. It's been like this on my netbook since alpha 3. What's going on? sorry, I don't really know much about this stuff. . . :(
