Need a way to download * (wildcard) via ftp in a script

Forum thread started by Dane on Wed, 2012-11-07 17:43

Here's a real need of mine, and I haven't figured out how to do it on my own.

Is there ANY way to do a wildcard download via FTP from the command line? I've looked at ncftpget and wget and neither seems to have anything that works for me. Example of what I need:

Log into X IP address
using username Y and password Z
and download * (all)

Thanks,

Dane

Media server or Audio driver issue, Disappearing sound...

Forum thread started by Cerb on Wed, 2012-11-07 08:46

Hi!

Using Nightly build hrevr1alpha4-44687 and M-Audio Delta 1010 LT Sound card.
I have this weird issue after 10-15 hours of uptime sound just disappears. No debug console, no error messages, no nothing. Reboot fixes it for another 10+ hours.

Questions:
1. What could be wrong?
2. How can I track the weak spot?

usb3 card support

Forum thread started by farvardin on Tue, 2012-11-06 19:38

Hello,

Some time ago, I had a problem with my usb connectors on my motherboard, and they're not working anymore.

I've installed an USB3 pci card, and it's working fine on Linux, BSD...

I tried today the latest Haiku nightly build, and I don't have access to my external disk or usb key.

It is this model (found with lspci on Linux):

02:00.0 USB controller: NEC Corporation uPD720200 USB 3.0 Host Controller (rev 03)

Do you think there is a way to make it work on Haiku?

some questions that the search engine can't answer. . .

Forum thread started by rayyu on Sat, 2012-11-03 06:21

. . . so I hope you guys will oblige me :)

First of all. . . is there wifi support for the atheros wifi cards? Apparently there is, according to the list of supported cards, but I can't seem to get it working. I also ran the wifi firmwares script, but I only saw it downloading for broadcom :(

Second, is it possible to upgrade and keep personal files? One of the things I like about linux is that there is a separate /home partition so you never have to worry about your documents and stuff even when you change operating systems. Is there something similar to haiku, when it comes to going from nightly to another nightly, or nighty to the alpha 4 that's eventually going to be released?

Also, I did a lot of customizations--the colors, settings, etc. Can those things be carried across installation? It doesn't seem so, but who knows? XD I don't really want to repeat the process of adjusting my settings every time I reinstall.

Lastly. . . I can't seem to enable the stack and tile feature :( That's one of the huge draws for me in haiku. . . I tried running the "setdecor SATDecorator" command but it says that it's not recognized. How can I enable it? (I'm using one of the nightly isos, btw.)

I'd really appreciate any help.

Running Bethon

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Wed, 2012-10-31 19:21

Hi all:

I successfully built Bethon, but I can't find the executable or run script.

This is how I built it:

linked /boot/common/bin/sed to /boot/system/bin

cd /boot/apps/Bethon (Bethon was the folder where I extracted the zip file)

make

make install

there where no errors!

So how do I run this software?

Haiku won't boot after installing(solved)

Forum thread started by rayyu on Tue, 2012-10-30 10:54

It's strange, after installing haiku successfully, I reboot it and I get "PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE rom"
I've installed it on my other laptop before and this never happened, is there anything wrong?
I installed windows 7 and it booted fine. And then I shrunk that partition and installed haiku.
After installation, it went straight to windows 7. I put the haiku cd back in and reinstalled haiku,
this time taking out windows 7 and using the whole drive. After installing and rebooting, I get
the PXE message. . . I'm confused :C
If it makes any different, I'm using a Lenovo netbook.

edit

I'm using the nightly iso, btw. Is it recommended over the stable?

x86-64 available?

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Mon, 2012-10-29 06:36

Before I begin, I am aware that the download from the Haiku website is a 32-bit version. However, if you follow xyzzy, then you'll know that he has done much work porting Haiku from x86 to x86-64. I don't have the experience to build a full working version of Haiku in a 64-bit environment. So, with all of that said, does anyone know if there is a downloadable .iso file with 64-bit Haiku.

Also, if no such file exists, how much longer for a 64-bit version of Haiku and how important is it to the Haiku developing team?

Thanks so much!

Cheers!
