How to update initltool!

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Mon, 2012-10-15 23:02

today I was trying to build gedit for Haiku (seeing as it was written in c++ and python).

I did the standard ./configure and got this error:

configure: error: your initltool is too old. You need intltool 0.40.0 or later

Can anyone tell me what I need to do now?

Thanks!

Mail programs

Forum thread started by FurryOne on Sun, 2012-10-14 13:18

Has anyone been able to get "MailIt!" to work on Haiku? Let's face it - the mail program included in Haiku sucks canal water. At least MailIt! was a fairly good program with decent features that worked like a regular mail program. This would go a long way towards making Haiku something thats useable a a daily OS, and not just a toy.

Installing haiku-openJDK

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Sun, 2012-10-14 03:12

Hey,

so as we all know, openJDK-final was released...

with the downloadable tar.gz, does anyone know how or where to install the files/folder to?

I tried unpacking in /boot for a system-wide install..... nevertheless it didn't work.
Any ideas?

step-by-step instructions would be the best (also once installed how do I link it and stuff with bash)

Thanks!

ps(does anyone know if it supports graphics/gui) thanks!!

Any boot boots fine but USB install doesn't

Forum thread started by RatCamper on Sun, 2012-10-07 08:02

I'm trying to get a recent version of haiku to work from usb on my acer aspire one but I can't. The anyboot image works fine but when I install to another usb drive or SD card so I can have a larger single partition it will not boot. The netbook hangs before it can even display the bios boot selection menu.
In desperation I even tried dumping the image to the destination usb drive and only deleting and recreating he became partition in case I was running into some kind of partitions table creation bug.
I don't know what it is but if it can lock a bios function that is only trying to look at it its pretty bad.

The partition looks fine. I checked it out in Linux. So.... I don't know. a bootloader issue?

How to connect Haiku to the internet?

Forum thread started by Demian on Tue, 2012-10-02 09:25

I have a DSL connection, use an Ethernet card and connect through Point-to-Point Protocol. I use Fedora 16 (Xfce). Here all I have to do is to go to Network Connections → DSL and put in my USERNAME and PASSWORD provided by the internet service producer. I have no idea how I can use this little information on Haiku.

Note: I haven't installed Haiku. I was experimenting with the OS through a Live CD.

Thank you for reading! (^_^)
