Installation Trouble "haiku_loader not found"

Forum thread started by bmerri on Sat, 2012-09-29 19:31

Today I created a bootable Haiku USB drive in Linux and was able get a live version of Haiku running. I then used the Installer app to install Haiku to the sole partition on my HD. I rebooted and attempted to run Haiku on my HD I recieved an error during startup: "haiku_loader not found". I tried looking through some installation guides and attempted the following to no avail:
- ran the makebootable command: makebootable /Haiku
- used the BootManager app

Any suggestions?

(My laptop: Acer AspireOne ZG5)

Thanks!

VMWare Fusion and Haiku

Forum thread started by Gene Steinberg on Wed, 2012-09-12 00:01

I am trying to make the installation work as a virtual machine until VMWare Fusion 5.0.1.

I am not a developer or IT person.

Unfortunately there are initial setup options prior to installing the VM that really do not make sense in relation to Haiku.

Can somebody give me a step by step please to making alpha 3 or a nightly work. I downloaded an ISO image of the latter.

Peace,
Gene

[solved] Powerline plug / Pass Through Adapter support?

Forum thread started by OldTimeyJunk on Sun, 2012-09-02 20:13

Hi, I'm thinking of using my old PC as a Haikubox. Trouble is, I need access to the internet, but the PC does not have a Wifi card, and will be placed nowhere near the router (it's behind the sofa). I was thinking of using a "Powerline" adapter (I was thinking of getting these ones, since they state that they are 'plug n play': http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/3317/2584/-/34066308/Hercules-ePlug-200Mb-M...) to get send Internet access from downstairs to upstairs. I have had no experience with these, so will they work in Haiku, and do they require any additional software?

What is the setup steps for NetBeans?

Forum thread started by steveh2009 on Fri, 2012-08-31 16:45

I have the latest OpenJDK port (August) and have setup JAVA_HOME, LIBRARY_PATH and PATH correctly to run Java programs.

I downloaded the C++ Module package for NetBeans (OS independent version). Then, I went into the netbeans/bin directory and ran the netbeans shell script. It reported some socket connection problems, came up with the License Agreement and splash screen. After accepting the LA, it exited. I tried again and then the splash screen comes up but then exits halfway through the initialization.

Should I download the OS Independent Java package first and then run that or am I missing something else to get it up and running?

Thanks.

haiku-hrevr1alpha4-44576 VirtualBox - VBoxManage setextradata "Haiku" "CustomVideoMode1"

Forum thread started by DasFox on Thu, 2012-08-30 23:59

I'm running VirtualBox 4.1.14 on Slackware 13.37 x86 on a Sony Vaio 15" laptop, running Intel i3 and Nvidia 410M and I'm not able to use this virtualbox command to change resolutions;

VBoxManage setextradata "Haiku4" "CustomVideoMode1" "1366x768x32"

These are two resolutions I've been able to get to work;

1280x800
1400x1050

1366x768 is my native resolution on the laptop, so I assumed it would work?

Anyone have any ideas on how to check what resolutions this is going to work with support, I can test, or how I can fix this?

THANKS
